Zendianos

The great slayer of the southern Isles, Zendianos is the leader of the Iashi Martial Order and likely the most powerful mortal in the world. He bears the blood of dragons and uses it to great effect in his war to make the islands safe for habitation. He is a man forged by war and by hardship, who believes that they are strong because they have survived. Now, he fights to try and fulfill his bargain with Cerathor, because if he doesn't, everything he fought for will have been for nothing. His is a power that knows no mortal bounds, a power forged of one who tore immortals from the sky.
He wears black dragonscale armor, wielding a serrated greatsword hewn from the bones of dragons. In battle, he fights honorably until he has no other choice, resorting to the dragonoid form that is his birthright.

Personal history

When the dragons took the Iashi archipelago, they acted as the kings of this new realm. In doing so, some felt primal urges towards the mortals who had no way of defending themselves. Zendianos was born of one such occasion, fathered by an ancient red dragon, the one who dwelt upon the red mountain. Growing up, he was always stronger and faster than the other kids, and this allowed him to survive in a world fraught with natural magic. He longed to move out of hiding, trying to protect the people who raised him. But he was not strong enough to fight off everything on the islands, and so he turned for help. His mind was caught by the wandering eye of Cerathor, who promised him the islands in return for a favor. Cerathor taught Zendianos that if he wanted freedom for his people, he had to prove that they deserved it. Cerathor infused Zendianos with elemental magic, fractured from the Primordial King. This magic allowed him to grow much faster in his strength, but the real gift was in what Cerathor showed him. He followed the whims of the god deep into the caves of the Gleaming Caverns, where he came upon the god dragon Vadrinthor. Vadrinthor was consumed with burrowing deeper into the caves, trying to reach something deep under the earth. He had wasted much of his strength burrowing deeper, and his mind was consumed entirely by the desire to reach it. He was so consumed in his task, he didn't notice Zendianos until he was striking him. Taken by surprise and weakened by exhaustion and psionic waves, the god dragon was slain by a mere mortal. And then, Zendianos drank his blood, further augmenting his strength. This would have killed a normal person, but his body was already fortified by Cerathor, and so he was able to resist the initial burn. From here, he would rise to be the king of the Isles, forging dragonslayers from five of his greatest warriors, who were also granted elemental strength by Cerathor. After a hundred years of war, they managed to take control of the islands completely, but it was then that Cerathor called in his favor. He wanted Zendianos to find and kill the shining one, who had conquered the mind of the god dragon. He sent him the two most dangerous Dreadlords to help him, instructing him to raid the northern kingdoms for slaves to continue the excavation of the caverns. Zendianos was forced to obey, knowing that Cerathor could kill him if he disobeyed.
