The Shining One

The shining one is an ancient Saphire dragon that was a gold dragon sent to investigate tears in reality near the Iashi archipelago. She was impacted by the brunt of the severing of the realms when it happened. Overwhelmed with psionic power, this dragon retreated deep underground where the psionic magics coursing through her veins shaped her body and mind. Disuse of her body has caused her wings and muscles to be atrophied and her body to be radically transformed. Her psionic powers are so great that they influence the whole of the Iashi archipelago, even without her knowing she is doing it. When the following pulses of psionic energy came across the realms, she was supernaturally aware of it all, and privy to the pain it caused. When spears of psionic energy struck a small child, she could not help but try and fight it off, sparing her life. The exertion that this took caused her to fall into a deep slumber, with her psionic magics influencing the whole of the archipelago. It was her that called the dragons here, without knowing it. All around her are privy to dreams of gleaming caverns filled with wondrous lights. This was what drew the dragons, the promise of treasure within her caves. When the Cerathor made his pact with Zendianos, he gained power in exchange for service. This service was called in to kill the shining one, which would allow the child she protects to fall under the power of Cerathor, with immense loads of psionic power to bear. The shining one is almost infantlike in mind space, but endlessly caring and immensely powerful. She was the first of the gem dragons, and in the moment of her creation, she gave her life to protect a single child.
