Shades
Shades, also known as shadow elves, were a race of humanoids who lived in the shadowfell. During the great scourge, they were among the ones who sided with Asmodeus. When he fell, they were caught in the tempest of magic unleashed by Vedena in her rage. Caught up in her dark magic, they were drawn into the shadowfell. Since then, shades have absorbed huge amounts of latent shadow magic, prolonging their lives beyond even that of elven standards and strengthening them greatly. Their long lives allowed them to train longer and as such, even a single Shade is a force to be reckoned with. They can draw on their shadow magic to do a number of spells which even the youngest Shade can perform. Shades have a certain cruelty to them, seeking power and a high position in the kingdom of Asmodeus to come. They are fiercely competitive, seeking power at all costs. Morals are secondary to them, personal power first, and then Shade power second. Shades are ruled by the shadow king, a shade who has mastered the power of shadow magic and seeks ascension to levels of power where he can court Vedena, with whom he is in love.
