Goblinoids
During the age of creation, the god Tir Cuelor created goblinkin so that he would have a race to worship him. He made them like him, small, tricky, clever and cowardly, all of which he considered good traits to have. Tir Cuelor is a god who possesses a hatred for the other gods. he is bitter with how they disregard him and this passed to the goblins. Like him, they spite the other races and fight wars against them, raiding their settlements endlessly. War among the gods and among their mortal creations led goblinkind from their days of raiding unto a force of rage and war. Goblinoids have 3 main types, each of which has a distinctive function among goblinoids and their hordes.
Goblins are the standard among them and the first creations of Tir Cuelor. They are small, tricky and cowardly. Despite this weakness, they are not un-formidable in battle and fight using a variant of guerrilla warfare. Goblins are the least of their kind and take up the roles of raiders and servants in great hosts as well as front line fodder troops. Hobgoblins are the result of pressure from Cerathor for Tir Cuelor to take a more active role in the war. He created Hobgoblins to be militaristic and efficient, loving every part of warfare and longing to bring down their enemies. Hobgoblins are strict and disciplined, making up the backbone of goblinoid hosts acting as both legionaries and support. Hobgoblins are the mightiest of the goblin races and thus they tend to boss around the other goblinoids. Bugbears are brute goblins that arose from hobgoblin frustration in the uselessness of goblins. They cast a number of spells on some of them and made them stronger and bigger. This resulted in the bugbears which have since become a distinct species. They are just as cowardly as goblins are but with a more formidable build and more powerful attacks.
