Firbolgs

A strange and reclusive people, firbolgs are a rare sight in the world at large. They don't like the company of other races and prefer quiet solitude with nature. They are patient and cautious as well as pacifists. Firbolgs are friends of the woodland creatures and frequently live among great groups of them. Firbolgs contain a certain natural magic that gives them the ability to go invisible or disguise themselves in order to blend in amongst other cultures and races. Firbolgs live in clans either within the gladewood or more prominently in Ivella's Glade. Firbolgs are distant relatives of giants, created by Ivella as guardians of the wild. They are so rarely seen in the lands of men that some believe they are fairy tales and myths. This in part arises from Firbolgs being prominent in stories for children where they act as guardians of the wild and call down great magics on those who would exploit the forestlands or cut them down. One race that are familiar with Firbolgs, are elves who deal with Firbolg tribes quite commonly and teach them about the world. Firbolgs are naturally strong and wise, with a natural talent for druidic magic. It is so prevalent within their society that most Firbolgs have some degree of magic.

History

Firbolgs were created as caretakers of the gladewood but as elves spread their influence in the forest and conquered it, they moved to different forests to live. When Ivella's glade was raised, there was a mass migration of Firbolgs to live there and take care of the creatures that sheltered there during the sundering.
