Elves

Known sometimes as the children of the forest, elves are the fairest and wisest of the mortal races. They are tall and fair, containing within them a small spark of magic giving them making them natural spellcasters. Elves are especially long lived and with this age comes wisdom and power. An elf can live through many generations of human kingdoms, through the rise and fall of empires and nations. They endure while the rest of the world is wrought with chaos. Their longevity can give elves a certain sense of arrogance but they are nearly always right with their debates so this arrogance is understandable. Elves are often very skilled in their chosen discipline as they have long amounts of time to practice and study. That said, Elves are prone to procrastination as they do not have a very good concept of urgency. An elf has trouble seeing a situation as needing urgent attention and are prone to wait out and consider all of their options.  There are many different types of elves that inhabit Ithesia. Wood elves are the elves who decided to live in the sanctuary that Thahmir and Ivella built for them, the gladewood. They are especially wise and the most isolationist of elves, preferring to stay in their cities. High elves are the elves that once inhabited the empire amongst men. They are smart and arrogant, but also the most powerful of elves. They now live in the city of Scyelrion and blame men for the sundering of the world, they now trust only elves. Drow are the elves that followed Asmodeus in the great scourge. After he was defeated, they retreated to the underdark, as the surface was no longer safe for them. Drow live in cities in the underdark, most of them feel remorse for the past and regret siding with Asmodeus, as such they live sad lives in the underdark. Eladrin are the elves who retreated to the feywild during the great scourge. They have stayed there since and have been twisted by the fey energy there. They are fully immortal and have powerful seasonal spellcasting. Their more powerful kin merge and become fey themselves, some fey lords used to be Eladrin. They are the most playfull and aloof of the elves as they are used to being powerful and many have lived for thousands of years. Sea elves are the elves that live on the continent of Yeslan and the Iashi archipelago. They are shorter lived than other elves and less wise, more prone to violence.

History

Elves were among the first races on the earth. They used to wander aimlessly, seeing everything in the world, but that changed when the gladewood was raised. The elves who settled in the gladewood became the wood elves and the ones who stayed among the humans became the high elves. The high elves joined with the humans to create the Brenaurus empire and their wisdom and spellcasting is part of the reason the empire was so successful. The elves in the gladewood became the Kingdom of Elintor, named after their capital city. Elves, because they are so long lived, usually stay out of the business of the rest of the world and so their kingdom has been mostly stagnant. The king of the Kingdom did however, make a deal with Asmodeus in which he sold his soul in return for sparing Elintor during the sundering. When the empire fell, the high elves were led by Thahmir to a sanctuary where he defended them. After the sundering, as he left them to their own devices, they founded a city here with a newfound disdain for humans. They would never again trust humans.

Interspecies Relations and Assumptions

Elves are mostly isolationist and so they don't have very good relations with other species. They hate goblinoids with a passion and they distrust humans and dwarves. The only races they really get along well with are firbolgs and gnomes.
