Dragonborn

The first of the mortal races to walk Brenaurus, the dragonborn played a huge role in the development of mortal creatures to the dominant type of species on Ithesia. Dragonborn are style crude and partially wild, with a natural connection to innate magic. The dragonborn were created by the first dragons, back when they held an element of innate magical power that they lack today. While they were an accident, they thrived and their weaker individual strength fostered an ambition within them which, combined with their fast reproduction rate, led them to do great things. Dragonborn are a very traditionalist folk, living in blunt caste systems based on their scale color and building great marvels of architecture with the help of magic. Dragonborn are stronger than humans and possess a raw draconic fury that leads other races to fear them. Nowhere is this illustrated better in their dragon breath, an ability that allows them to draw upon their raw elemental power to mimic the favored weapon of a dragon.  Dragonborn are split up into two groups, chromatic and metallic. Chromatic dragonborn have more evil hearts and are feared most of the places they go. They raid pillage and plunder across Brenaurus and the other continents. The second type are metallic dragonborn, they are more kind hearted and accepted but much rarer as they keep to their ruined sanctuary of draconia after the terrors of the sundering.

Basic Information

Anatomy

Dragonborn are generally taller than humans and have tails. Their heads are shaped in a dragonic snout and their body's are covered in scales. Their scales take on a color depending on their draconic ancestry in their family.

Dragonborn are pure carnivores and eat many smaller mammals and other creatures.

Chromatic dragonborn can be found pretty much anywhere, in roving tribes. Metallic dragonborn are pretty much solely in draconia.

Dragonborn have human intelligence although they think in more crude and basic forms.

Dragonborn have a good sense of smell and good eyesight that allows them to see in the dark. They also have pure, raw elemental power that allows them to use their dragons breath.

History

Dragonborn, with the benefit of being the first truly mortal race, created the first kingdom of mortals. This kingdom would grow during the age of creation and become known as the first empire. The first empire would be dominant for several generations before it fell at the hands of human conquerors. Bahamut and Tiamat would then lead their people to the islands which would become known as draconia. During the time of the great scourge, Bahamut and Tiamat found themselves on opposite sides of the war. The dragonborn fought in the great scourge in the form of a civil war on draconia, alongside their true dragon cousins. Many of the islands sunk during these wars. Their war continued even after the dividing and the construction of the divine shield. Eventually, the chromatic dragonborn won the war and they enslaved the metallic ones. For hundreds of years this domain would be ruled in isolation with an iron fist. Eventually, the metallic dragons and dragonborn rose up and defeated their chromatic overlords and then made a new nation, the sanctuary of draconia. The high priests of Bahamut performed a ritual to give thanks to Bahamut. This ritual weakened the divine shield and allowed Bahamut to bless his people by raising their islands into the sky, for them to live in peace. They would live in peace for many years until the time of the great sundering when Tiamat blew the islands from the sky. Bahamut would gift the survivors with a cloak over their islands to keep them safe and allow them to rebuild their nation.
