Aasimar

Aasimar are a humanoid mortal species that inhabit the material plane. They are inhabited with a shard of divinity giving them supernatural strength and wisdom as well as heavenly wings that serve as a symbol of their status as near celestials. Aasimar are small in number and wander in tribes throughout the world, living in a rigid society that worships one of the gods as the creator of their tribe. Aasimar were created to be a lower form of angels, foot soldiers in the war against the lower planes. Separate gods each created their own Aasimar and their creations revere them with a faith that would be impossible for humans. Aasimar appear human at first glance but behave completely differently. They have a celestial, almost zealous devotion to their god and fight with the fury of one who does not fear death. They are guaranteed a place in the afterlife of their patron god and so death has no hold on them.  There are 2 main types of Aasimar. Protector Aasimar make up 90% of the species. They exist as divine soldiers and fight to protect good hearted mortals from the horrible things in the world. They have luminous white feathered wings that resemble the ones of the angels they are modeled after. Some of these Aasimar fall from their divine purpose, when this happens their heart darkens and they become more like humans. In addition their wings turn to dark, necrotic, shrouded and flightless state. The gods Osaldir and Tasnira created a special branch of Aasimar that makes up the second type of Aasimar. They are called scourge Aasimar and are driven by a deadly desire to destroy all evil things. They often take the form of wandering warriors, slaying horrid beasts and taking down evil mages.
