8/10/21 Session 28 - "Dragons and Spiders and Ghosts, Oh My!"
Special Note: Remember to take a Marc Alt to Gypsy Summer Camp to play Magic the Gathering with old women.
As our heroes prepare to rest at the winery from their last encounter at Yester hill, Fredriech Carlston and Grinfiddeus Nobbles ponder the significance of the trinkets they had been carrying for some time. They seem to have originated in Barovia and feel something is off about why they even have them. Perhaps they are more linked to this land than previously thought.
Grinfiddeus Nobbles requests a little wine from Davian, but he informs them that they have none at this time. He points out the bad wine in the one aging barrel left, but warns Grinfiddeus Nobbles that it's no good. Wondering how bad it could really be, Grinfiddeus Nobbles drinks some of what he assumes is under aged wine and is immediately positioned in a horrible manner.
The party turns to Davian and tells him to fix this, if the wine was poisoned how could he allow someone helping him to drink it. Eventually Davian's son appears and calms everyone down offering the group a remedy for the poison. Grinfideus takes the concoction and feels better. Fredriech Carlston seeing an opportunity to use the poison in a future encounter seeks to steal a bit. He's stopped, but not before Om Wolfash causes an intentional commotion by throwing Marc Alt into a table. Even with the distraction, Fredriech Carlston is seen and is persuaded to refrain from taking the tainted wine.
After an eventful evening, the party rests and wakes the next morning to be received by an apologetic Davian. He seems to have been coaxed by his family to apologize as not to ruin their hope of reviving the winery. The group accepts his apology and leaves the vineyard headed toward Argyngostholt.
As our heroes travel, Grinfiddeus Nobbles makes not that there is something in the woods following and tracking them as they travel the road. They ignore this unseen threat for the time being as they arrive at their destination. Argynvosholt seems to be partially destroyed castle/manor. Out front is a statue of a dragon facing the large wooden doors of the structure. As the group approaches and heads up the stairs to open that door, they feel a cold mist emanating from the statue.
While the party carefully examines their surroundings, Balasar Norixius heads in through the doors and into a large main hall. One inside he is shortly joined by the rest of the group. They begin to explore the destroyed South wing and are immediately accosted by giant spiders. The party fights them off and heads back in to continue exploring. Heading East they find what appears to be a chapel dedicated to the Morning Lord and 3 humanoid looking beings kneeling at the altar. As Balasar Norixius approaches they do not attack but instead point him to the stairway to the South to head up stairs.
The party recalls one of the Taroka cards pulled by Madam Eva mentioning going to the highest point of some place resembling this place. They continue to climb and explore dusty rooms, eventually encountering a sooty/shadowy dragonling which they dispatch quickly. As they explore more thoroughly Fredriech Carlston becomes separated from the party after crossing a threshold and a stone slab falling behind him. There appear to be ghostly enemies nearby and no immediate escape in sight.
