Darklands
A region once uninhabited the Darkwoods have become the home of the Laan'ithil of Isonia. Following a revolution in the underdark hundreds of Drow turned their back on Lolth and her dark ways and returned to the surface world where they were changed once again into a brand new race of Elves.
Though the Moon Elves were partially released from their allergy to the sun they remain nocturnal and cannot bear daylight for long periods of time as such they garnered knowledge of meteorological-magic that allow them to cast great clouds over the region to block out the sun's rays. This gave the region it's name as it is kept in a state of lengthier nights and shorter days. The extra cloud coverage however has also led to more rain than is typical for the region and has granted an ideal growing situation for spinaches, skirrets, peas, cabbages and cauliflowers as well as a variety mushrooms and snails.
Geography
The Darklands are situated at the base of the mountainous region that was once just an uninhabited forest region but when the Laan'Ithil resurfaced nearby they made the region their own and their magic began to change the region.
With the extra cloud coverage rain is commonplace and what was once a temperate region is now humid and wet, the small streams that once trickled through the forest are now healthy rivers that make their own way through the region. This completely altered the flora of the region as many plants native to the region could not handle the now saturated soil and succumbed to rotting in their roots but with cultivation from the Moon Elves other crops took their place as new species were brought in.
To most the region would be dark, damp and unpleasant but to the Moon Elves it is wondrous where change is fluid and frequent. Tall trees reach to the sky, bolstered by the heavy rains, bountiful colourful fungi spread across the forest floors and flowers bloom most of the year round.
Fauna & Flora
Many species of plants cannot survive in this region but the Moon Elves originated deep underground and as such are master cultivators in difficult situations. They have introduced hardier species of plants that thrive in the damp climate, with cauliflower, skirret and other vegetable in abundance both in farms and in the wild.
Mushrooms and other Fungi make up the vast majority of the ecology in the region as they thrive in the dark damp conditions and are spread far and wide, the Moon Elves viewing them as a faithful friend from their entire journey to the surface.
Many animals migrated from the region as the ecology changed though now owls, bats and deer are commonplace in the forests.
Natural Resources
The frequent rain of the region has helped create strong and abundant forests and have granted plentiful trees for wood.
