Colinvale (Kah-leen'-vah-lay")

Colinvale (pronounced Kah-leen'-vah-lay", not Call'-in-vail) is a large halfling village situated in the middle of the Debas Forest. It is located in the midst of a small valley, surrounded by outcroppings of large rocks and hills.
Approximately 475-500 years prior to present, a refugee group of Tieflings from the north were welcomed into Colinvale by the halfling inhabitants and invited to set up their own colony nearby. The resulting settlement of tieflings became known as Surgunev ("home for the exiled") and they are considered by the halflings to be part of their extended family.
A few years after the tieflings arrived, the manufacture of Chamig Bae was founded as their Vanderjack companion animals proved extremely adept at retrieving the Champig fungus from impossible-to-reach locations in the surrounding rock formations. Vanderjacks have since become celebrated members of the community as well, and many are used as both companion animals and work animals. They are treated very well and live in good surroundings following their days of work in the rocks.
