Elves
Basic Information
Anatomy
Generally taller than humans, elves possess a graceful, slender physique that is accentuated by their long, pointed ears. It is a mistake, however, to consider them weak or feeble, as the thin limbs of an elf can contain surprising power. Their eyes are wide and almond-shaped, and filled with large, vibrantly colored pupils.
The coloration of elves as a whole varies wildly, and is much more diverse than that of human populations. However, as their coloration often matches their surroundings, the elves of a single community may appear quite similar. Forest-dwelling elves often have variations of green, brown, and tan in their hair, eye, and even skin tones.
Growth Rate & Stages
Elves reach physical adulthood around the age of 20, though they aren’t considered to be fully emotionally mature by other elves until closer to the passing of their first century, once they’ve experienced more, held several occupations, and outlived a generation of shorter-lived people.
When an elf dies, his body goes through a sort of transformation, culminating in the creation of a new oak tree, exhibiting some of the physical characteristics the elf had in life, such as the color of the leaves resembling the elfs natural hair color in life or a prominent scar the elf had growing into the bark.
Ecology and Habitats
The elves are a multi faceted race. Part of them, the Urishol, known only to most human settlements as "Druids", have reverted in the eyes of outsiders to savagery, slowly rebuilding around what was left of their great groves around ancient oaks know as the "Forefathers". They guard them zealously, viciously, killing most intruders in their woods. Not so trusting now of the young fumbling races around them.
Others still, know as the High Elves have built settlements of wood and stone, embracing many of the new ways that have emerged, many even living amongst the young races in their sprawling cities. They are prideful and still hold to their traditions, but they mostly represent the sect of elves who hold more to who they used to be. The gentile, forgiving race of near fae. Not as bitter and vengeful.

History
The Elves are one of the ancient races, who in more recent times have opted rather to not involve themselves in much of anything of the new world, rather than the Dwarf way of trying to conquer it. They have a deep connection to nature, as their ancestry shares much with the fae. When they die, their bodies spawn a tree, which is thereafter carefully tended by a sect of the elves called the woodspeakers. Elves always try to return to a woodspeakers grove when their end is near, in order to join their ancestors in their eternal wisdom, which the elves believe is granted to elves through a process known as the Channeling.
Elves do not sleep. Instead, enter a trance state for about four hours per night. In this state they see visions, which are shared among all elves, which they believe are their ancestors channeling their life experiences into their minds, often in order to teach lessons, enlighten them on something they might soon need to know (soon being quite loose in the mind of an elf, due to their longevity) or even to warn them of coming dangers. They believe the networks of trees that the woodspeakers tend are essential to this process. The Channeling, however, tends to be extremely vague, and most elves tend to only remember small handfuls of it, usually believed to be the most relevant part to that specific elves. The woodspeakers however are entrusted to between themselves decipher the true meaning of the channelings, and use the results to guide their people.
Most elves hold a deep animosity for dwarves, because of the events of The Enlorn Wars
