The Conflict
Prelude
The ancient animosity between elves and dwarves can be traced to a war that transpired between the two races tens of thousands of years past, when the dwarven empire was near its peak. The dwarves built strongholds all throughout the world. They built great halls filled with shining riches from the earth. The story goes that the Dwarves set their eyes on the mountain known to the elves as Orphantal. The dwarves knew the area to be especially rich in emeralds, so in the end, dwarven greed won out.
Deployment
The first attack was brutal and efficient. The elves, not having known war in their time of this plane, were butchered. Their ancestral groves burned. The mountain was claimed.
Story says that the Dwarven Thane, Baneschar of the Durek, ordered every tree within six miles of the mountain be chopped down, and brought back to the mountain for the construction of his keep in its heart. The Dwarves had no knowlege of the deep meaning those trees had to the elven race as a whole. No idea of the existential pain, the anger it would waken in the elves. Within the week, a war bloodier and longer than any that has been fought in Isera before or since had commenced.
