Grey Dragonkin

Descendants of Grey Dragons

Talks of city planning and street maps continue into the night, discussions rising and falling as points are made and die when rebutted. Every once in a while, those in the room turn to look at the odd one out, the Dragonkin with shining scales that has listened pensively as the talks continued. When everyone falls silent, the Dragonkin finally speaks, making points and drastic changes that are necessary for this plan to succeed.   Grey Dragonkin are the descendants of one of the Elder Races and a Grey Dragon. Their cunning nature and their aptitude for planning often lead them to positions behind the scenes, manipulating the strings for the best outcomes. They strive to serve their people and communities with this cunning, creating better places for the future, places where their people are welcome and can mingle without the stigma that comes with their scales.   Above all else, these people respect cunning and planning. This is their defining purpose, serving as strategists and city planners. In many ways, the Grey Dragonkin are much like the Dwarves, looking to their futures and how form creates function. The ego of Chromatic Dragons has no room in their service, even though it is sometimes warranted.

Basic Information

Anatomy

Grey Dragonkin share some specific traits with their Draconic ancestors that prove their ties to the Grey Dragons. Their facial features are often sharp, with a jawline that comes to a ragged point, similar to a beard. Fin-like ears, whiskers coming from their snout, and smaller muscular bodies are also common in Grey Dragonkin.   All Dragonkin inherit sharp claws, extremely strong and protective scales, as well as a breath weapon that they can use. Some of these traits are affected by the color of the Dragonkin as the many varieties of Dragons also vary greatly in their abilities. Grey Dragonkin often have a resistance to things that would weaken normal people while their breath weapon causes things to crumble and begin to disintegrate.   Common Colorations

Their scales can range from a grey color that is nearly white to a dark grey color. The color of their eyes has a much smaller range, often only being yellow, brown, red, green, grey, or purple.

Additional Information

Social Structure

Grey Dragonkin often equally choose to mingle with other societies and live with their own kind. They may be found in villages of other Chromatic Dragonkin, in groups of their own color, or amongst the many races of some of the largest cities in the world. Where they choose to make their homes often depends on how they wish to use their talents and fulfill their purpose. While a great majority live and serve their purpose in the Fearsome Maw, almost all large cities of the world have at least one Grey Dragonkin helping behind the scenes.   These people are not unfriendly but are often considered cunning and calculating. When it comes to tactics and planning, the abilities of Grey Dragonkin are unrivaled in certain groups. This is why the places they live are so varied. In many areas, they may be welcomed into a community as their planning abilities can benefit the societies they join greatly.

I love when a people are more feared for their wits than their strength, and I feel like that is the case here. Although I wouldn't be on the wrong end of that breath weapon.
