Martian Transit Train

These trains, and their associated tracks, span the breadth of Mars, and make appearances around the broader PDRM. Used to transfer both cargo and passangers, this rolling stock travels at up to 300 km/h on 1.5 m stock. While on mars it operates with a pair of rails, in space the adapted systems tend to use 2 sets of rails, one above and one below.
The standard rolling stock is a 16 m long, 3 m wide, and around 3.5 m tall. Locamotives are powered either by nuclear reactors or power from the line, depending on local conditions. A standard loco can output around 10,000 hp. Typically on areas where there is power in the line, self propelled trains will be used.
Both passangers and frieght use this system, passangers using a sealed, life supported train. Typically that train will be composed of 1 loco, 7-8 passanger cars, and a seperate life support car. While each car can function without connection for at least an hour, the life support car makes it more sure, and many trips take more than an hour
