Firelight flickered in his eyes, the watch fire burning bright in the oppressive northern night. He wondered what even was right and wrong anymore.

General Physical Condition
He bears the muscle necessary to wield a massive sword, but his physique is not chiseled. He is fast and strong, capable of great athleticism along with his raw strength.

His skin is brown, with a warm tone. He always looks a little taller than he actually is.

His jaw is fairly square, and his cheekbones are chiseled. His mouth is long, and somewhat down turned. He always looks serious, whether he actually is or not. He has a short beard that covers his chin and jaw.

He walks with a slight limp due to an old injury. He is right handed. He looks to the right often because his right ear was injured.

He wears a chainmail hauberk over a linen shirt, heavy pants, and leather boots. Over the mail he wears leather armor. It is worn, though its original color was black. On his back he keeps a pack. He also has a red cloak for cold weather.

Personal history
Born in a small town in the northern tundra to a family of hunters, he grew up fast. His mother and father taught him all they knew, but he became bored with life in his secluded hometown and joined the royal army in 3122. Four years later the civil war broke out, and his faith in the north was lost. He traveled south after the conclusion of the war, founding The Rangers with several of his friends and form colleagues.

He killed his first stag at the age of eight, and his entire town celebrated, as they always celebrate a young hunter's first kill. After some struggle, he mastered the greatsword in military training. He is also proud of learning to read and write, and of forging his own path after the war.

History
Montgomery and Taig met during the civil war, and served together through the two years of fighting. They bonded over their shared dismay at the thoughtless destruction wrought in the north, and its ultimate triviality. Montgomery left the north after the war, and asked Taig to follow him, which she eventually did.
Relationship Reasoning
They serve as foils for each other, with Montgomery sometimes keeping Taig's temper in check and holding her back, and Taig sometimes giving Montgomery the motivation he needs to get past some block, either physical or mental.
