Aerith Valandor
Aerith Elmisalria Alelynsalor Valandor (a.k.a. Princess Aerith of Evalin)
Aerith Elmisalria Alelynsalor Valandor (born 96 AE), also known as the Princess of Light, is a prominent member of the Royal Elven Family of Hinaraiia, belonging to the esteemed House of Valandor. This title was bestowed upon her as she was born under the sacred World Tree in Evalin during the height of summer's light. Her father, Prince Eldaer, believed that she was the incarnation of an Elúriel (Second Star), a figure of great significance in elven prophecy, due to the appearance of an Ember Comet in the night sky shortly after her birth.
An Elúriel is believed to have their birth heralded by a bright comet, as described in the ancient Silmerian texts. Those born under such a sign are said to be destined for greatness and to carry the divine blood, known as the Alathriel, of the High Queen Nylathria, the first Queen of the Silmerians. Aerith is believed to be the third recorded Elúriel, a figure of immense importance within elven history. Despite her noble heritage, she is often regarded as a rebellious princess within her family and the broader elven society.
Aerith is also the mother of the prophesied "Promised One" Aerylnaër Alelynsalor, who was born in 323 AE and is her only child.
Early Life
Aerith was born in 96 AE, the first and only child of Prince Eldaer of Evalin and Princess Lyari of Evalin. Initially, she was third in line to the throne of Hinaraiia. However, the birth of the Twin Princes shifted her position to fifth in line. Despite not being a direct descendant of King Marlevaur, Aerith held significant standing due to the mandates of the Great Queen Misalria, who decreed that titles of succession be granted to family members responsible for preserving sacred lands. Evalin, being the most sacred land in the Hinaraiin Kingdom, further solidified Aerith's importance within the royal hierarchy. Aerith displayed an early fondness for sword mastery at the age of 20, particularly in the fabled arts of the Lindorath (Bladesong), an ancient teaching of the Sentina. She was often seen with a sword in hand, dedicating herself to the discipline and elegance of this elven martial art. The Lindorath, known for its combination of swordplay and magic, fascinated Aerith, and she quickly grew to becoming a well versed warrior. Her passion for the blade was ignited when she first heard the legendary Song of the Azkallovaen, a tale about the elven sword of heroes. This mythical blade was said to be destined for a great elven warrior, chosen to wield it in the defense of their people. Aerith, inspired by the legend, harbored a deep desire to be the one who would claim this legendary sword. What began as a childlike dream of heroism soon grew into a powerful ambition that shaped much of her life. Her desire to forge or discover the Azkallovaen became one of her paramount goals, driving her to discover the secrets on how to forge such an artifact. As Aerith grew older, her rebellious spirit led her to step outside the bounds of royal custom. While her peers were content within the safety and privilege of the royal court, Aerith was often seen beyond the borders of the Kingdom of Hinaraiia. Her adventurous mind drew her to the great continents beyond, where she sought out challenges and trouble. Aerith's journeys were as much about self-discovery as they were about seeking external adventure. She developed a reputation as a skilled swordswoman and a daring explorer, known for her willingness to face dangers that others in her position would shy away from. These experiences further fueled her determination to live up to the legend of the Azkallovaen. The Forgotten Voyage
In her later years, Aerith became transfixed with the legend of the Navimírë, a ship of great renown that captured her imagination. The Navimírë was a collaborative effort, built by the master craftsmen of The Zoashin Kingdom and The Hinaraiin Kingdom as a symbol of their enduring unity. Its purpose was to venture beyond the Deep Blue, into the uncharted territories of the Great Beyond, and to return with gifts, treasures, and knowledge unknown to the world. The ship's construction began in 276 AE, a time during which Aerith eagerly watched its completion. However, due to her royal status, she was denied the privilege of sailing aboard the vessel. The Navimírë's maiden voyage was heralded by early messages that spoke of unimaginable wealth and artifacts unlike anything the known world had ever seen. In the tale of The Forgotten Voyage in 317 AE, Aerith uncovered new information that reignited interest in the long-lost wreckage of the Navimírë. She believed that the ship, now lying somewhere in the unknown depths, held the key to a powerful secret—the forging of the legendary sword, Azkallovaen, which she had long sought. One of the ship’s last messages hinted at such a secret, and Aerith became determined to solve the decades-long mystery and claim the knowledge she believed was rightfully hers. Her pursuit of this knowledge was not just a personal quest but an extension of her life's work, intertwining her destiny with the legends she had grown up hearing, particularly those of the Lindorath (Bladesong), and the heroic figures who wielded power with both song and steel. She gathers a crew to set sail into The Far Seas against the will of the King.
