Navigating the School Day: Class Time System

Welcome to Narasato Gakuen, Chroma Knights! While saving the world is a big deal, so is surviving high school. The Class Time Blocks make up a large part of your day (Morning Block: approx. 8:30 AM - 12:30 PM; Afternoon Block: approx. 1:30 PM - 3:30 PM/4:00 PM). This system helps you manage how your character spends that time – focusing on studies, interacting with friends, pursuing personal goals, or just trying to stay awake!

Core Mechanic: Action & Focus

During each Class Time Block, you make two key choices:

Choose Your Action: Select ONE primary activity from the "Class Time Block Actions" list below. This determines how you're spending the block and its general effects (Skill gain, risks, social outcomes, Stress changes).

Determine Class Focus (If Needed): If your Action involves academics, you then decide which subjects you're paying attention to by choosing a Class Focus:

Focus on ONE Class: Select one subject from the Course List.

Focus on TWO Classes: Select two subjects from the Course List.

(Actions like sleeping or solely socializing don't require you to pick a Class Focus – you're not engaging with the lessons!)

These choices determine how your character develops skills, manages stress, and interacts with the school environment during class hours.

Slice-of-Life Skills

These skills represent your non-combat abilities and knowledge, measured using the Mythic Rank scale (Weak → Low → Below Average → Average → Above Average → High → Exceptional → Incredible). Most skills start at Below Average or Average.

Improving Skills: You improve skills by accumulating Skill Checks granted by certain actions.

Track the checks next to each skill on your character sheet.

When you accumulate 3 Skill Checks for a specific skill, its Rank increases by one step (e.g., Average → Above Average).

Reset the check marks for that skill to 0 after ranking up.

The Skills List:

Academic Skills:

Academics (General): Understanding lessons, studying, test-taking.

Research: Finding information (library, online, archives).

Logic & Problem Solving: Deductive reasoning, analysis, puzzles.

Lore (Cosmic/Cycles): Chroma Knight history, Malfested knowledge, etc. (Rarely improved in normal classes).

Lore (Local/History): Narasato history, culture, rumours.

Social Skills:

Persuasion: Convincing others, negotiation, charm.

Deception: Lying, misdirection, maintaining secrets.

Empathy: Understanding emotions, reading social cues, comforting others.

Performance: Public speaking, acting, music, artistic expression.

Etiquette: Proper social conduct, manners.

Practical Skills:

Athletics: Physical fitness, coordination, sports.

Stealth: Moving quietly, hiding, avoiding notice.

Example of Play

It's the Morning Class Block. Your character is scheduled for Science and Literature.

Option 1: Deep Science Dive: You choose Action #1 Focus on Studies and Focus on ONE Class: Science. You gain +2 Skill Checks. You could assign them as +2 to Research, or +1 to Research and +1 to Academics (General).

Option 2: Balanced Study: You choose Action #1 Focus on Studies and Focus on TWO Classes: Science and Literature. You gain +1 Skill Check from Science (perhaps for Logic & Problem Solving) AND +1 Skill Check from Literature (perhaps for Empathy).

Option 3: Secret Chat: You choose Action #2 Subtle Socializing to pass notes with your best friend during Literature. You need to make a Deception check. If you succeed, your bond strengthens, and you get +1 Check in Deception. You gain no academic skill checks this block. If you fail, the teacher catches you, you get +1 Stress, and your relationship with the teacher worsens.

Option 4: Power Nap: You choose Action #5 Catch Up on Sleep because you were out late patrolling. You need to make a Stealth check. If successful, your Stress drops by 1. However, you'll have a -2 Rank Shift later if the GM asks you to recall anything specific from Science or Literature class this morning.

Choose how you spend your class time carefully! Balancing your academic growth, social connections, personal well-being, and secret Knight duties is key to thriving at Narasato Gakuen.
