The Old Kingdom
The ruins of a massive subterranean kingdom, now Home to Orcs, Trolls, Goblins, and the remaining Dark Elves who remained following Long Night. Chaos Spawn and Demons can be found within the deepest parts of the cavernous ruins.
Geography
The Old Kingdom is a vast network of tunnels and ruins screeching thousands of kilometers throughout Irindoth. Many tunnels and caves are interwoven along the surface of Irindor that reach into The Old Kingdom, a sudden shift from roughly hewn and weathered tunnels to cracked masonry signifies the transition. There is no known end to the depths of The Old Kingdom, the architecture growing more advanced and radical as one progresses deeper into the underkingdom.
Ecosystem
The Old Kingdom is now home to a number of orcish tribes, troll nests, dragonkin, Dark Elven puritans, and Chaos Beasts. vast sections of The Old Kingdom are flooded and house sea creatures as well.
Fauna & Flora
The Old Kingdom have various plant life that exist with little to no sunlight, mostly fungus based. entire forests of massive fungus tree's have been rumored to exist within the Depths. luminescent algae and fungus are the only natural sources of light in the Caverns other than magma flows.
Natural Resources
Because of the lack of sunlight, and the cold a number of resources exist within The Old Kingdom that can only be found there. Such as Ironsilk, from the native species of colossal spiders. Other resources such as Mithral, ancient Adamantite, and Mystrium can also be found within the Ruins, with more rich veins of the precious minerals found the deeper one dares.
History
The Old Kingdom's history is largely unknown, the earliest records of it appearing in Torlyl's survey notes. while searching for burried nodes of Adamantite and Mithryl veins Toryl's expidition discovered the first set of Old Kingdom Ruins. first thought to be an abandoned Dwarven outpost, or perhaps the legacy of Xeher it would be many years after Torlyl's initial discovery that those notions were questioned. the second expedition team would discover the vastness of The Old Kingdom, and the distinct architecture, an unknown language etched along massive archways and mostly destroyed murals. This was the first recorded interactions between Mortals and Chaos Beasts as well, whom seem to have infested portions of The Old Kingdoms Ruins. A Chaos infestation is suspected to be the cause of the civilizations destruction, though who they were or how long ago they created The Old Kingdom or when they were lost remains a mystery. since its discovery countless expeditions have been launched to investigate The Old Kingdom, most doomed because of it. The most notable exception is the initial exile of the Dark Elves following the Fall of Unity. A large number of Orcs have taken residency in The Ruins closest to the surface as well.
