Stars and Souls
An old myth from the tribes of Narsai.
Summary
The Narsai belief that each star is the soul of some one who has not been awoken into the world yet. Each star in the sky represents how many lives are yet to be lived, the dark and empty spaces between them how many have flickered out and died over the eons. Each star is named, charted, and considered part of a family to the Narsai tribes, some of the only hard records kept of their people is in regards to the names of each of the stars.
Historical Basis
As the newborn Humans fled their Giant cousins over the sea's they looked towards the heavens and the stars to navigate towards the island of Narsai where few if any lived. it took an entire generation for the tribes to make their way across the seas, and when they arrived the importance of the stars was ingrained into this new generation, which eventually evolved into the basis that the stars were the souls of the people.
Spread
The belief was remained within the tribes of Narsai, when a Narsai tribesman meets an outsider who they come to consider family, they will name a star in their honor.
Variations & Mutation
Some of the Tribes think that the stars are the souls of unborn gods, or that the stars are instead the ascendant souls of their ancestors who light the darkness.
Cultural Reception
Many of the Narsai celebrations and traditions revolve around the stars, and the impact it has made upon the desert folk can be felt even after the many catastrophes that Narsai has endured.
In Literature
each tribe has a set of scrolls that record the names of the Stars and their people.
In Art
Many of the tribes heraldry, and their banners reflect the Star Charts and the names of those from their scrolls.
