Winter's Hold was founded in EM 71 by Darius Winter and his band of exporers, The Ivory Flock. The hold was to be a temporary fortification to support and grow the village of Arbington. Instead the hold took in most of the boat traffic and had a better natural port than Arbington. Darius is a srewd man, understanding that war can be costly. He made peace with the Lizardfolk who inhabit this continent and gained permission to expand a bit here in exchange for help with infrastructure. In his eight years here, he has made himself very popular by connecting many of the cities and towns owned by the Lizardfolk.

Carpenters, blacksmiths, and general laborers make up the majority of the populace with adventures, mapmakers, guides and other members of the Explorer's Guild following closely behind.

History

Winter's Hold was originally built as a headquarters for The Ivory Flock. As Darius Winter got to know and deal with the indigenous Lizardfolk, the need for construction materials, vehicles, and provisions grew thus increasing the need and size of the port. This all grew the hold quickly and outpaced nearby Arbington which was supposed to be the main city on this continent.

Architecture

Most buildings are made from wood from the surrounding forests. The more important structures are reincorced with stone and cement to protect them from fires.

Geography

Winter's Hold was built on the edge of a natural cove which lent itself perfectly to incoming ships.
