Firearms
Firearms are a recent invention within the last decade, they are currently only produced within Stisedo, primarily from the city of Vuttera. Firearms are considered an advanced alternative to crossbows, as similar to crossbows, firearms require far less training to be effective with, compared to a melee weapon or a bow. The primary difference between a firearm and a crossbow, is that a crossbow is faster to reload, higher accuracy, and can be used in the rain, but a firearm has higher power and bullets have more velocity compared to crossbow bolts/arrows.
Despite Firearms being new, their are already multiple different types and advancements for Firearms. The first type of firearms invented within Stisedo initially are a type of Firearms called matchlocks, and operating them requires the user to fill a section with gunpowder (something required by all current firearms). Afterwards the user plunges a bullet down the barrel, finally they would place a burning piece of twine on the firearm (the lighting of which takes 2 actions) before pulling the trigger to fire the bullet (which requires 1 action). The primary difference between Matchlocks, also known as Generation 1 firearms, and Flintlocks, also known as Generation 2 firearms, is that Flintlocks remove the need to light a twine by having a built in piece of flint for the Firearm. Lastly the difference between Generation 2 firearms and Percussion firearms, also known as Generation 3 firearms, is the firing system (allowing for faster reloads) and a partially rifled barrel (allowing for far greater accuracy).
In nations other than Stisedo it is incredibly difficult to obtain a firearm due to incredibly high mark ups from merchants who bring them from Stisedo, this is because for one reason or another nations deny this piece of technology and have yet to dedicate craftsmen to its production. In Zaveron, they refuse to acknowledge firearms and it limits an individual by providing a weapon whose skill ceiling is close to the skill floor, and partially due to their innate hatred for Stisedo. Within Kelazhur, the Emperor has put a ban on firearms, as they do not wish for any form of culture to take hold within their country except their own.
Accurate/Effective Range
This section notes the range at which a firearm is accurate (an example would be trying to shoot a creatures arm), the effective range is always triple of the Accurate range. For pistol variants of firearms, the Accurate/Effective range is 1/4th of a normal 2 handed firearm.
- Generation 1 firearms are accurate up to 15 meters
- Generation 2 firearms are accurate up to 20 meters
- Generation 3 firearms are accurate up to 40 meters
Reloading
Firing the firearm always takes 1 action, below notes the amount of actions to reload the firearms, as there is often many differences between the generations of firearms.
- A Generation 1 firearm takes 1 minute to reload
- A Generation 2 firearm takes 2 full turns to reload
- A Generation 3 firearm takes 1 full turn to reload
Creating Firearms
For individuals to create firearms, they would have to either have a high level of blacksmithing/Engineering (15 in both), or would have to spend a large period of time studying or being taught by a firearm craftsmen in Vuttera. Otherwise, creating firearms works the same way as any other weapon in Blacksmithing.
Rare Firearms
In this section is mentions of firearms that are made from more than a singular creator, but still far from being recognized as an addition to firearms. While not always the case, most of these firearms will be found exploring inventor shops within Vuttera. Lastly, this page makes mentions of these firearms, for mechanical differences, or detailed information an individual would have to investigate themselves.
The Current -
A firearm said to be able to unleash a steady flow of bullets like a current, faster than even a generation 3 firearm.
Scrapgun -
Originated from an attempt at making a firearm from the scrap remains of firearms and even using small scrap as ammunition, most who attempt to craft this firearm are said to be madmen.
The Paperweight
Received its name due a common complaint from those who have used this gun, as it is incapable of being reloaded, making it as useful as a paperweight after being used.
