The Northern Council

"One north, one people!"- Quier Harvard the 1st on the day the council was founded.

Overview

The Northern Council, an ancient institution forged in the crucible of history, stands as the bedrock of governance of the expansive Northern Peninsula. Conceived in the wake of epochal conflicts and the tumult of divine machinations, its origins trace back to the visionary Quier Harvard, who sought to unite disparate territories under a common banner. Comprising esteemed Ladies, valiant Sirs, and venerable Dyrrs, overseen by the sagacious Quier, the Council's mandate is one of stewardship and stability. Through epochs of strife and moments of triumph, it has remained a bastion of order, navigating the ever-shifting tides of politics and peril to safeguard the Northern Peninsula.

History

In the annals of the Northern Peninsula's history, the genesis of the Northern Council casts a shadow that stretches back to the twilight of the Second Age, emerging like a beacon of unity in the aftermath of the legendary clash at Rainbow's Hill. Crafted by the visionary Quier Harvard, its inception followed swiftly on the heels of the dramatic return and subsequent exile of Luna, Goddess of Darkness.

In those nascent days, the Northern expanse was but a modest domain, largely under the sway of the formidable Kingdoms Raj'tar and Handrar. This status quo endured until the fateful unraveling of Handrar's monarchy, thrusting the region into a period of flux. As the North expanded, its burgeoning territories posed a challenge to the maintenance of law and order, particularly in the outer reaches of the kingdom.

To address this evolving landscape, Quier Harvard devised a stratagem of decentralization, bequeathing stewardship of disparate regions to the hands of appointed lords, known as Dyrrs. Drawn from venerable lineages entrenched in the fabric of the Northern Council, these Dyrrs served as custodians of their respective domains, ensuring the steady governance of the burgeoning kingdom. Thus, for generations, the Northern Council stood as a bastion of stability, its ranks comprised of esteemed Ladies, valiant Sirs, venerable Dyrrs, and the sagacious Quier.

Yet, in the pivotal year 7000 of the Third Age, the tranquility of the North was rent asunder by the malevolent Crimson Union, hailing from the distant shores of the Ruby Isle. Their onslaught razed the proud capital Fan'dori to rubble, snuffing out the lives of the Council's members in a tempest of violence and chaos. Only the indomitable leader of the Royal Guard, his valor untarnished by the savagery of war, eluded their relentless pursuit.

In this hour of dire need, salvation emerged in the form of The Guardians of the North, valiant defenders whose stalwart resolve turned the tide amidst the harrowing Fan'dori. With the Council decimated and the Quier's seat vacant, the Northern Peninsula found itself teetering on the precipice of vulnerability once more, bereft of leadership in a time of peril.

In a bid to restore order and safeguard the realm, the Guardians assumed the mantle of interim governance, standing as stewards of stability in the turbulent aftermath. As the dust settled and the Northern populace looked towards the future, the mandate for leadership fell upon the shoulders of the people themselves. Through democratic suffrage, new voices rose to ascend the echelons of power, charting a course towards a revitalized era for the North, shaped by the trials of the past and the promise of a brighter tomorrow.
