Wairheom Deschend is generally considered to be a fit, strong individual despite his age, though this is rarely seen in public. Due to the fortune of the Deschend Estate Wairheom has been able to pay for the best local physicians and healing tonics, enabling him to remain relatively healthy.

His slicked-back black hair and black clothing with golden trim is how individuals usually identify Wairheom out in public. Should the mater of the Deschend Estate be out in public with servants or relatives, however, generally looking for the one that stands the tallest with the imperious gaze is a safe bet.

While not known to many people, it is believed that Wairheom began his life as a relatively wealthy member of House Deschend, though quickly found himself stranded in Kharahal without any other members of his family present and a dwindling fortune. The following business moves and investments are something he prides himself on and will tell anyone who listens, doubling his starting fortune in only a year. Since then he has continued to invest all across the Frontier and generate significant personal wealth, making him one of the wealthiest people not only on the Frontier, but on Ahuduir.
When Wairheom was in his early twenties, living the dream of a young aristocrat, his gaze was caught by a young Nythrai courier working for Moonlight Mail, Athuu and, after courting her for a significant time, the two got married. Athuu maintained her independence from Wairheom by continuing to work, however she had to take significant leave when she became pregnant. In Wairheom's 24th year his first and only son, Relar Deschend, was born though his marriage would not last much longer, as Athuu and Wairheom came to disagree on how to raise their son. Eventually Athuu left, returning to the Federation of Accelko, though she could not take her son as Wairheom would not let his heir be spirited away.
As the young Charai Relar grew and developed an interest in artificing, all Wairheom could see was the potential profit in the skill, and had his son learn the skills of invention from local artificer Hourald, and assigned the retainer Reust to watch over the boy. Years went by, and the child's skill at his craft began to rapidly improve, until his 13th year, when Relar's behaviour underwent a shift and he expressed a desire to continue his work within the Estate.
