Wayrth

Wayrth, meaning "Miracle" in the Elvish language, is a continent in the Northern and Western hemispheres of Iontas. Whilst it is small compared to other continents that exist on Iontas, it's significance is as great as any other. Despite being known as a paradise for over a thousand years, much of Wayrth's history is written in blood.

Geography

Surrounded by the Ocean of Forebears, Wayrth's geography is fascinating for, despite it being a relatively small continent compared to others, the continent has a great deal of variety in it's geographical features. Two mountain ranges, the Weeping Crown Mountains and the Spine of Wayrth, stretch across from the North Eastern point of the continent down to the Southern peninsula. This mountain range was once one, but was split during the Voidharrow Calamity when the Demon Lord, Kostchtchie the Prince of Wrath, sundered the mountain range using his war hammer Matalotok to create a path for his armies. The ravine forged by this strike filled with the blood of those slain in the Voidharrow Calamity, creating the Blood Sea at the base of the Glowing Precipice - a lone mountain of fire within which the Sanguine Calamity resides.   To the South West of the Blood Sea lies the Harrowing - once a dense forest now torn apart and corrupted when the Jewel of the Commonwealth crashed into it. A land twisted by Voidharrow, it has begun to heal since the destruction of the Voidharrow Corruptor that lived within, though this process will surely take hundreds if not thousands of years.   Southwards of that lies the canyons and mountains of the Ribs of Wayrth. During the Sacred Cataclysm, Haricin the Stormweaver attempted to strike Wayrth with a force that would cause the continent to be pushed into the Ocean of Forebears. However, it was blocked by a person whos name has been forgotten to history, only being known as the Twice Blessed: a hero blessed by Fiáin and Agein. The heroic act caused the destruction of the hero, but their sacrifice prevented the continent from being destroyed. However, the explosion from the strike caused the land to be ruptured and changed forever more.   West of this geographical phenomenon lies the Uljar Desert. Roasting hot and harsh, the land here has been fiercly burnt by the suns, causing inhabitants to seek as much shelter from the heat as possible. Yet in the middle of this desert, lies an impossible phenomenon: an everlasting blizzard. Originating from the ruins of Solvfesting, a section of this desert is shrouded in an eternal blizzard and has been since the Voidharrow Calamity.   To the North of the Harrowing lies the Witchbark Forest - the dark remains of the forest that once spanned where the corrupted land now lies. Whilst it has avoided the corruption of Voidharrow, the Witchbark forest still houses many horrific creatures and monstrosities that lie in wait for unaware and unsuspecting travellers that they can snatch up and consume.   Northwards of this forest one can find the rolling hills and expansive grassland of the Smouldering Frontier. This prairie stretches for hundreds of miles across North Western Wayrth, and hosts much land burned by the Sanguine Calamity's infernal flames, causing patches of land to burn for eternity.   Eastwards of this lies the Scorched Badlands. This expansive savannah dotted with plateau mountains has seen devastation at the hands of the Sanguine Calamity, whom has made much of the land inhospitable to most forms of life - only the hardiest creatures and people find themselves daring to exist within this scorched landscape.   Finally, to the South East and over the mountains, one can find the Vanyali Jungle. A sprawling, lucious wilderness that teems with exotic flora and fauna, the jungle is formed of impossibly massive trees which form a dense canopy blocking the light of the suns in many locations, hiding the beautiful creatures that roam below from the harshness of the twin suns.

Natural Resources

Unique to Wayrth, the substance known as Korthium is a mineral that glows with a faint bluish-purple light. This incredibly rare substance has only been found on Wayrth within the Harrowing, where it can be harvested from large crystals that seem to be jutting out of the ground. Korthium is warm to the touch, even exposed to extreme cold Korthium is warm. Korthium can be used as an incredible source of arcane energy, but is incredibly volatile, especially when exposed to intense heat. Exposure to it slowly causes a being to decay and corrupt, as the invisible Voidharrow energy it emits slowly transforms that which is near.   Many arcanists and scientists crave Korthium, for it's potential is incredible, but previously getting any was incredibly difficult and incredibly dangerous due to the Demons, Voidharrow Spawn and Voidtouched native to the Harrowing would tear those that entered apart, and the corrupting presence of the Voidharrow Corruptor spelt doom to anyone who dared to enter the accursed land. However, since the destruction of Nihiloth the Harbinger of Doom, word has begun to spread that all Voidharrow Spawn and Demons were banished and the Voidtouched were far more docile. Perhaps Korthium will become much easier to get in the near future...

History

The Great Draconic Empire had it's capital on the continent of Wayrth. The Sanguine Calamity spent most of his time on the continent, amassing power and resting within the volcano known as the Glowing Precipice. Half-Dragons, Dragonborn and draconic bloodlines & dragonmarked bloodlines can trace their origins to this continent, for it is also the place where these lineages originated. After the collapse of the draconic empire, Wayrth became ruled by the green dragon, Chryselephantine the Dread Queen of the Forest. The Dread Queen was worshipped by Yuan-Ti, who at her behest oppressed and enslaved those that lived on Wayrth. This oppression lead to the War of Elvish Ascendence and the Duel of Verdant Legends, ending with the dismantling of the serpent empire.   For over a thousand years, Wayrth experienced an era of peace and freedom, thanks to the efforts of Mage-King Thaliondorin and the rise of the Kyre Commonwealth. After the dismantling of the Yuan-Ti and their empire built on slavery, the Kyre Epoch marked a period of paradise for those who lived upon Wayrth, for the Commonwealth accepted any and all who desired peace and freedom.   Yet, even paradise cannot last forever. During the Voidharrow Calamity, the Kyre Commonwealth was struck a deadly blow when it's jewel, the flying city of Du'ul Mulaag, was struck by a meteor that sundered the magnificent city, causing a vast explosion that rocked the entire continent. Other cities fell to demons, voidharrow spawn, voidtouched or infighting as the paradise set up by the Kyre Commonwealth fell apart. Even when there seemed hope of it returning, Wayrth was devastated yet again by the awakening of the Sanguine Calamity and the founding of his Charir Sovereignty.   The once beautiful and serene continent of Wayrth is now a continent torn by war and death, powerful creatures rising to prominence and leading destructive armies across the continent to gain power and fame. These countries became known as the "Realms of Woe" as they spread woe and destruction across Wayrth, battling one another ceaselessly in desperate bids to claim the continent for themselves.

  • Wayrth
A land very different from Rizom. It is a land where humans are not the dominant race, a place where races once lived together in harmony. Once beautiful and serene, a haven for all races and a place where all could come to live in peace and tranquillity. A place where refugees could come, fleeing the wrath of tyrannical rulers such as the Mad King, Kuraim Thunderblood, to seek a new life and live a fulfilling, pleasant life. A land where magic was prominent, used by almost all to create a country of beauty and elegance. The very name, Wayrth, meaning “miracle” in the Elvish language. Now torn asunder by war and devastation.
