The gnomish leader of The Coven of the Ancient, Rosalia (otherwise known as Rose) is known for her ability to create amazing mechanical creations. If you give her a bucket of scrap metal, some bolts, and two springs, she might make you a fully functioning automaton that knows twelve languages and Kung fu. She is also one of the head researchers into using trapped spirits for power. This is something that witches have done for centuries, but only for very simple projects, or for giving off light. Rose figured that they could do much more, but also knew that using spirits for power was not entirely ethical. She then figured out how to use magical contracts to allow people to offer their spirits as sources of power if they wanted, or magical creatures that were evil, their spirits could be trapped and used as a power source as a form of punishment. Rose has progressed technology in Kelarpian, more than most could ever dream to.
