Republic of Rostula

Introduction

An emaciated, gnarled landscape of craggy, jagged coastal cliffs that slope up to the basalt lined rims of towering volcanoes, Rostula is a primeval cauldron, long overlooked as inhospitable. However, in isolated valleys scattered among the minefields of geysers and drylands all lie vast vineyards and Lavanda groves, with hills dotted with the bold and prominent flower only native to Rostula, a flower which is emblazoned on their flag. But looks deceive. The beauty of the flower belies a deadly truth, hidden beneath its vibrant golden venire. It is a mutated symbiosis between a native species and a long forgotten Earthborne flower, and even slight contact with it results in paralysis, and permanent nerve damage. Consumption results in almost immediate death. It is perhaps frighteningly accurate as a symbol of the Rostuli people, and of their brutal environment full of startling contrasts.
