Bastiat
Basiat is an embodiment of Rodanyan martial tradition. The product of countless generations of fortifications built upon fortifications, the city resembles more of a military base than the capital of one of the great republics of Lavendina. Even in the current age of new and devastating weaponry, this city nestled between the jagged peaks of the Contorbi Coastal Highlands remains a daunting, imposing symbol of Rodanyan pride. It is a popular saying that the city has never once fallen, and never will fall.
Demographics
Bastiat has long been an impermeable symbol of Rodanyan stubbornness, and as such was for most of its history completely closed off to all but the inner circle of the military stratocracy. The racial and cultural homogeneity of the city stands in stark contrast to the overwhelmingly cosmopolitan, culturally diverse majority of the rest of Lavendina. In fact, the lack of diversity in the city led the famous Amaranthine Philosopher Arkal Vaesa to remark, upon visiting the city,
Bastiat is most aptly described as a completely warped, distorted looking glass into the past. The population of that wretched fortress has no aspiration, no drive besides that of looking down upon foreigners and asserting their own fleeting superiority.
