Blazing Horses

Inspired By World Anvil Summer Camp 2021: "A Species of Working Animal"

A magically corrupted horse that is ignited by radioactive flames. The flames are glowing green and are located on the mane, tail, and hooves. The flames will not extinguish when they are in water.   The Blazing Horses are only tameable by the most talented animal trainers. Some herds have been tamed. Most of the tamed ones are located in the Glowing City were they serve as working animals.

Basic Information

Anatomy

The skeletal system is like that of a common horse. The hooves are surrounded by green radioactive flames. The hair on its mane and tail has been replaced by the same radioactive flames. The rest of its body hair is jet black in color.

Ecology and Habitats

This species predominantly exists in The Deadlands and Flaming Horse Plains.  They also end up setting forest fires in the The DeadlandsDark Swamps, and the Flaming Horse Plains. This allows helps the natural cycle allowing new growth. Clearing dead trees, leaves, and undergrowth. Stronger plants grow in response to this.

Dietary Needs and Habits

They feed on grasses, mushrooms and vegetables. They migrate to the Flaming horse plains in the wet season and to the Dark Swamps during the dry season. This allows the food sources from running low.

Additional Information

Domestication

The Blazing Horses are only able to be tamed by riders who they see as powerful. One must be able to face the horse in combat and win. Then an offering must be made to the horse.    The horse is radioactive so many do not even attempt tame them. Most of the tamers are form the Glow City.

Uses, Products & Exploitation

These horse are use as war animals and transportation. They are also used for carrying things, pulling carts, and helping to plow fields. Wild horses are uses for meat, leather and enchanted equipment.

Located in the Flaming Horse Plains, The Deadlands, and the Dark Swamps.
