Becceorian

The Becceorian, also known as Wild Brutes, or Berserkers by human, are a formidable species to behold. Standing tall on their two massive legs, they tower over most other creatures with their hulking frames. Their bodies are covered in thick, coarse fur that ranges in color from deep browns to fiery oranges. Their faces are fierce, with sharp teeth and piercing eyes that seem to glow with an inner fire. These creatures hail from the planet Pheonope, a world ravaged by war and conflict. It is no wonder then that the Becceorian are known for their love of violence and destruction. They revel in the chaos of battle, their monomaniacal behavior driving them to seek out new foes to conquer. Despite their wild nature, the Becceorian are not without discipline. They are highly regimented, following strict codes of conduct that govern their actions both on and off the battlefield. This combination of ferocity and order makes them a formidable force to be reckoned with.   Immensely strong (surpassing the strength of Shilizal), Becceorian typically place a greater emphasis on brutality than wisdom; they are considered to be a savage species on the whole. It is no surprise then that the Hivivian Empire saw the value in incorporating the Becceorian into their ranks. After a brutal defeat at the hands of the Hivivian, the Becceorian were brought into the fold, adding their strength and ferocity to the already formidable army. But not all are pleased with the inclusion of the Becceorian. The Shilizal, in particular, resent the Becceorian for their violent tendencies and lack of restraint. It remains to be seen how this tension will play out in the future, but one thing is certain - the Becceorian are a force to be reckoned with, and their place in the Hivivian Empire is secure.

Biology

Anatomy & physiology

Becceorian are physically imposing enemies to face in combat. Standing at approximately 274 centimetres (9 ft 0 in) tall, and tend to tower over most of their enemies. They have thick, gray skin and brown hair/fur that is extremely resilient to battle damage. They have only four limbs, two thick muscular legs with considerable hip strength and two muscular arms that act as manipulators as well as powerful weapons when disarmed of a firearm Becceorian closely resemble apes, being taller and more muscular in the torso and limbs than a human, and having the same weight and height as an average male polar bear.   Heavily muscled and possessing animalistic brutality and strength, Becceorian can rely on close combat to defeat their enemies, even more so than their Shilizal counterparts. However, their great strength may in fact be simply relative, due to the species' evolution on a world with triple the gravity of Earth, and other planets with one 'g'. Featuring characteristics simian, ursine, and alien, their appearance fits their human given name. Becceorian are obviously carnivores, given their fearsome fanged jaws and propensity for violence. It has been stated that they feed on the flesh of their enemies, such as the Humans they face in battle. Becceorian have four digits on each hand including opposable thumbs. As such, they can make use of a variety of weapons both of Hivivian and human design. Their feet have only three digits.   Becceorian are not as mentally slow as they may appear, and are often fairly cunning tacticians. As such, they can pilot vehicles & ships and command both land-based & fleet encounters with strategic competence, albeit lacking in artistic flair. They also have a higher vocabulary than other members of the Hivivian, apart from Shilizal and Shalgan.

Genetics

The Becceorian possesses a unique genetic makeup that sets them apart from the rest of the Hivivian Empire. Their triple helix DNA structure is one of the most notable differences between them and other species. Unlike humans and most other species, who have a double helix structure, Becceorian have evolved to have three strands of DNA. This has allowed for a greater complexity in their genetics, leading to enhanced physical abilities and resilience.   One major advantage of their triple helix structure is their increased size and strength. Becceorian are larger and stronger than most species in the Hivivian Empire due to their evolution on a high gravity planet. Their muscles are made up of stronger fibers, allowing them to exert more force and lift heavier objects. Their bones are also denser, giving them greater durability and resistance to injury.   Another notable advantage of their triple helix DNA is their heightened senses. With an extra strand of DNA dedicated solely to sensory perception, Becceorian have superior sight, smell, hearing, and taste compared to other species. This makes them highly skilled hunters and trackers. Their unique genetic makeup also allows for faster healing. The third strand of DNA gives them a heightened immune system that can quickly heal wounds and fight off infections or diseases.

Life cycle

The average lifespan of a Becceorian is between 180 to 220 years. However, due to their violent nature and involvement in constant battles and wars, most do not live past the age of 60. Their reproductive cycle begins at around 20 years old when they reach physical maturity. Becceorian females have a gestation period of approximately 10 months and give birth to one offspring at a time. The newborns are completely helpless and rely on their parents for survival.

Diet

Becceorian have a strong predatory instinct and are natural hunters. Their sharp claws and teeth, along with their enhanced senses, make them highly skilled predators. They are capable of taking down large prey on their own, but often work in packs to bring down larger or more dangerous creatures.   Their diet primarily consists of meat, with a preference for fresh kills. In battle, they are known to consume the flesh of their enemies as a show of dominance and to gain strength from their fallen foes. This practice has led to a reputation for being ruthless and barbaric among other species in the Hivivian Empire. Apart from feeding on the flesh of their enemies, Becceorian also hunt and consume other creatures for sustenance. They have no qualms about preying on weaker species and see it as a natural part of survival. Some may even engage in cannibalism and eat members of their own kind.   Being carnivorous, Becceorian require high amounts of protein and fat in their diet to maintain their muscular physique and strength. They also have a high metabolism due to their active lifestyle, which requires them to consume large quantities of food. In terms of cooking and preparation methods, Becceorian prefer to eat meat raw or lightly seared over an open flame. This is partly due to tradition but also because they believe consuming raw meat allows them to absorb more nutrients from their food.

Psychology & Intelligence

Becceorian are known for their cunning and intelligence. They possess a highly evolved brain structure, with intricate neural pathways that allow for quick thinking, problem-solving, and strategic planning. This, combined with their enhanced senses and physical abilities, makes them formidable opponents in battle. However, the Becceorian psyche is complex and differs greatly from other species in the Hivivian Empire. From birth, they are taught to value strength above all else and believe in the concept of "survival of the fittest." This mentality is ingrained in them from a young age through rigorous training and exposure to violent situations.   Due to this upbringing, Becceorian have a low level of empathy. They do not easily form emotional attachments with others and have no qualms about killing or harming those they see as weaker or inferior. This lack of empathy also makes it easier for them to carry out orders without questioning their morality or consequences. In terms of relationships, Becceorian value loyalty above all else. They only form bonds with those they see as strong and trustworthy. Betrayal or disloyalty is seen as the ultimate betrayal and can lead to severe consequences.   Their highly competitive nature also plays a significant role in their psychology. Each Becceorian strives to be the strongest and most skilled warrior, leading to constant competition among them. This desire for dominance often leads to power struggles within their society but ultimately results in stronger individuals. Despite their ruthless reputation, Becceorian do have a sense of honor and pride. They follow a strict code of conduct that emphasizes respect for strength and bravery in battle. Breaking this code can result in social ostracization or even death.   In terms of communication, Becceorian have developed a unique language that involves both verbal sounds and body gestures. Their language is complex, with different tones conveying different meanings. However, they are also capable of learning other languages and often use this as a form of manipulation or espionage.

Culture

Becceorian culture is a reflection of their psychology and biology. As a species that values strength and survival, their society is highly competitive and centered around warfare. Becceorian are organized into clans or packs, with each one led by a dominant male alpha, or chieftain. This chieftain holds the most power and makes all major decisions for the pack.   Warfare plays a significant role in Becceorian culture. They believe that it is necessary for survival and place great importance on physical strength, combat skills, and strategy. This mentality is instilled in them from birth, with young Becceorian undergoing rigorous training in combat and survival skills. Hunting is also an essential part of their culture, as it not only provides food but also serves as training for battle.   Within their packs, there is a strict hierarchy based on strength and dominance. The strongest members hold the most power, while weaker individuals are seen as expendable or even disposable. This can lead to internal power struggles within packs, with challengers vying for the position of chieftain.

Languages

The native language of the Becceorian is known as "Narzarn," which translates to "the language". It is a complex and unique language that incorporates a wide range of sounds, including growls, barks, howls, and roars. This animalistic language evolved from the early days when the Becceorian were still primitive beings living in the wilderness.   Narzarn is not just limited to verbal sounds; Becceorian also express emotions through scents and musk's. These scents are released by glands located near their vocal cords and can convey a wide range of emotions such as fear, anger, and happiness. Young Becceorian have difficulty controlling the release of these scents but learn how to moderate them as they grow older.   Spoken Narzarn is rough and guttural, with a similar flow and rhythm to Mandarin or German. It consists of words made up of various combinations of sounds, each with its own unique meaning. The length and pitch of these sounds can affect the meaning of a word, making it a complex language to learn for non-native speakers.   Aside from spoken language, Becceorian also communicate through body gestures and postures. They use their sharp claws and teeth to make specific hand gestures or movements that convey different messages. This form of non-verbal communication often accompanies spoken Narzarn to emphasize a point or emotion. Despite being their primary language, many Becceorian have also learned other languages through interactions with other species in the Hivivian Empire. As they do not possess vocal cords like most species do, they rely on special implants that allow them to mimic speech patterns in other languages. This has proven useful for covert operations or espionage within enemy territories. However, even with this ability, Becceorian often struggle with other languages due to their lack of social skills and empathy. Their blunt communication style can come across as rude or aggressive to other species, leading to misunderstandings and conflicts.

Naming conventions

Most known Becceorian have Latin-sounding names, such as Teckamontus and Curniaus. The "-us" at the end of their name is an honorific denoting maturity or experience in battle, similar to the "-al" suffix on Shilizal names. The "-yia" suffix (exhibited by individuals like Gurreyia and Synomyia) is associated with the Recti. Not all Becceorian names follow these two conventions; examples of Becceorian with nonstandard names include Ekoric and Surnum.

Cultural and political titles

  • Chieftain of the Becceorian: The Chieftain of the Becceorian is the leader of the entire Becceorian race.

  • War chieftain: Becceorian war chieftains are in charge of the larger Becceorian packs. Superior to the standard chieftain title, war chieftains often use heavy weapons in battle to establish their strength and physical prowess.

  • Chieftain: The title of chieftain has existed long before the Becceorian were incorporated into the Hivivian military. Often commanding small packs or clans, chieftains lead Becceorian and several lower caste species alike into battle.

The arts and architecture

The architecture of the Becceorian is a mixture of primitive and modern elements. Due to their warlike lifestyle, their settlements are often simple, but they do have some more permanent structures in certain areas. Traditional Becceorian dwellings are typically huts made from a combination of straw, and animal hides. These huts are small and low to the ground, providing shelter from harsh weather conditions.   In more permanent settlements, such as those near key resources or areas of importance, the Becceorian have adopted more modern construction techniques. These structures are often made from stone and are larger in size compared to their traditional huts. However, due to constant conflicts between packs, many of these structures have fallen into ruin.   The Becceorian also utilize natural formations such as caves for shelter and protection. During times of war or conflict, they may fortify these caves with walls or barricades for added defense. In terms of aesthetics, Becceorian architecture is functional rather than decorative. Their focus is primarily on survival and practicality rather than beauty. As the Becceorian continue to interact with other species and become part of the Hivivian, their architectural styles have evolved to incorporate new technologies and materials. However, the core elements of simplicity and functionality will likely remain an important aspect of their design.

Tools and technologies

The Becceorian are a highly advanced race, with technology that is both crude and sophisticated. They have mastered the use of melee weapons, creating gravity hammers, grenade launchers and other similar weapons with blade attachments. These weapons are often favored by the Becceorian due to their preference for violance. Despite their proficiency in melee weaponry, the Becceorian also utilize advanced plasma technology acquired through their alliance with the Hivivian Empire. This includes plasma rifles, cannons and other energy-based weapons. However, the Becceorian still prefer their weaponry.   In terms of transportation, the Becceorian primarily use large motorbikes known as "War Striders" to get around quickly and efficiently. These bikes are equipped with two plasma cannons and razor sharp spikes on the front tires, making them formidable in battle and capable of traversing rough terrain. Becceorian also have a strong affinity for larger, tank-like vehicles known as "Kruloks". These heavy-duty vehicles are heavily armored and armed with various weapons, making them ideal for transporting large groups or for a powerful assault.

Religion and spirituality

The Becceorian do not have a strong belief in religion or spirituality. Their culture is heavily focused on survival and conquest, leaving little room for the contemplation of abstract concepts like gods or an afterlife. Instead, the Becceorian place their faith in their own strength and abilities, believing that they are responsible for shaping their own destiny.   This lack of religious belief is rooted in the evolutionary biology of the Becceorian. As a race that evolved from carnivorous predators, they are driven by primal instincts and a natural inclination towards war and violence. These traits have shaped their culture and way of life, leaving little room for introspection or contemplation. However, this does not mean that the Becceorian are completely devoid of any spiritual beliefs. Some individuals may hold personal beliefs or rituals passed down from their ancestors, but these are not considered to be part of a formal religion or belief system within Becceorian society.   The concept of deities or divine beings is largely rejected by the Becceorian. They see themselves as the ultimate power in their world, with no need for assistance from higher powers. In fact, the idea of worshiping a deity is seen as weak and submissive in Becceorian culture.

Science and philosophy

The Becceorian are not a race that places much importance on scientific or philosophical pursuits. Their focus is primarily on warfare and conquering other species, with little interest in expanding their knowledge or understanding of the universe. However, this does not mean that the Becceorian are devoid of scientific advancements. In fact, their advanced technology and weapons demonstrate their proficiency in science and engineering. But their approach to these fields is practical rather than theoretical, with a focus on creating efficient and deadly weapons rather than exploring scientific concepts.   The Becceorian also do not have a strong philosophical tradition. They do not contemplate the meaning of life or ponder abstract questions about existence. Their thought processes are largely focused on strategies for survival and domination, leaving little room for abstract thinking. Their lack of interest in science and philosophy can be attributed to their evolutionary biology. As a species that prioritizes physical strength and aggression, they do not see the value in intellectual pursuits. Instead, they view physical prowess as the ultimate measure of success. Despite this, there are some individual Becceorian who may be interested in scientific or philosophical topics. However, they are often seen as outliers within their society and may even be viewed with suspicion by their fellow becceorian.

Society

Becceorian society is dominated by a fierce pack culture and a focus on lineage. Familial bonds tie each member to the other, forcing them into states of rage and desperate mourning for their fallen pack mates should one die in battle. Becceorian society is an authoritarian dictatorship controlled by the strongest male; dominance is established by the social, martial, and sexual success of the patriarch. Patricide is a common side effect of the patriarchy due to the ambition seeded within many Becceorian to rise to the top of a hierarchy. Female Becceorian generally serve as mothers and caretakers. No females have been observed in military roles. A Becceorian's blood relation to another Becceorian do not offer subordinates immunity from discipline.

Gender

Becceorian society is strictly patriarchal, with males dominating in every aspect of life. Females are largely relegated to the role of mothers and caregivers, with no females observed in military or leadership positions. This is due to the societal belief that physical strength and aggression are the most important traits for success, and these traits are typically associated with males.   There is very little known about the role of females in Becceorian society as they are not often seen or studied by other species. It is believed that they live in separate communities from males, only coming together for mating purposes. There is also speculation that females may engage in rituals or ceremonies related to reproduction and childbirth. Females are highly valued within Becceorian society solely for their ability to bear children. However, this does not necessarily mean that they have a high status or respect within their society. In fact, it is likely that many females are treated as little more than breeding machines and are expected to produce as many offspring as possible.   In terms of physical appearance, female Becceorian are believed to be smaller and less muscular than males. They may also have different coloration or markings on their bodies compared to males, but this has not been confirmed. It is unclear if there is any form of gender discrimination within Becceorian society, as there is currently no evidence to suggest so. However, it can be assumed that females do not hold much power or influence compared to males.

Kinship

Becceorian society is highly focused on the concept of kinship and familial ties. Becceorian are born into specific packs or clans, and their worth is often determined by the strength and status of their pack. Each pack is led by a strong male patriarch, who maintains control through dominance and physical prowess. Within a pack, kinship and family connections are highly valued. Older generations often pass down traditions, knowledge, and even leadership positions to their offspring. However, these familial connections do not offer immunity from discipline or punishment within the pack hierarchy.   The concept of bloodlines is also important in Becceorian society. A strong bloodline with a history of successful warriors and leaders is highly revered. This means that an individual's worth can also be linked to the success of their ancestors. However, despite the importance placed on kinship, personal ambition often takes precedence over familial ties in Becceorian society. Ambitious young Becceorian may betray or even kill their own relatives in order to advance their own position within the pack hierarchy.   This constant competition for power and status can create a tense environment within families and packs. Dominance must constantly be asserted in order to maintain one's position within the pack, leading to potential conflicts and rivalries between blood relatives.

Government and politics

Becceorian do not possess a stable or functional governing structure. This is due to their warlike nature and constant competition for power within packs. The focus on personal ambition also means that there is no centralized government or system of laws that applies to all Becceorian. However, there are some instances where certain packs may hold some level of governance authority over others. These packs are known as "Aviks" or master-packs, and they are usually led by powerful and dominant Becceorian who have gained control over multiple smaller packs. These Aviks may enforce their own rules and laws within their territory, but they are still subject to the overall authority of the Chieftain of the Becceorian.   The Chieftain is considered the supreme pack alpha among all Becceorian. They are seen as the most powerful and respected leader in the society, with ultimate control over all other packs and Aviks. The title of Chieftain is not necessarily inherited or passed down through bloodlines, but rather taken by force or cunning from the current holder. Due to the chaotic nature of Becceorian society, there is no formal political system or election process for choosing a Chieftain. Instead, it is decided through a series of challenges and battles between potential candidates. The victorious candidate becomes the new Chieftain and must constantly prove their strength and leadership abilities in order to maintain their position. While the Chieftain holds significant power and influence over all Becceorian, they also face constant threats from ambitious individuals who seek to overthrow them. As a result, they must continuously demonstrate their dominance through displays of strength and decisive actions in order to maintain their position as leader.   In terms of decision-making within Becceorian society, it largely falls on the shoulders of individual pack leaders or Aviks. They make decisions that affect their own territories or packs without consulting the Chieftain or other packs. However, in cases where there are disputes between packs or Aviks, the Chieftain's decision is considered final and must be feared.

Fashion and dress

On Pheonope and other Becceorian colonies, there are two different articles of clothing that made of the very basic garments. These consisted of a draped garment, slip-on garment. The basic garment and braw for males was called Jurria. This garment is like a loincloth and is worn by Becceorian men of all social standings. The Jurria would often be worn under a cloak or cape called a Engirr. Various styles of engirr exist that serve to indicate the status of the wearer.   Becceorian warriors are commonly seen in a leather combat harness draped over each shoulder and connected to a utility belt, with wrist gauntlets and shin guards. High-ranking commanders and war chieftains often donned full body armor from head to toe.

Trade and economics

Trade and economics are not significant aspects of Becceorian society. Due to their barbaric and militaristic lifestyle, they have little need for trade or commerce. Instead, they rely on pillaging and raiding neighboring planetary bodies for resources.   The concept of ownership is not highly valued among Becceorian, as they believe everything belongs to the strong and powerful. As a result, there is no currency or monetary system within their society. They simply take what they want through force, whether it be food, weapons, or other resources. However, there are some limited forms of trade that exist among the Becceorian. Certain allied packs may exchange goods or services with each other. For example, one pack may provide horses in exchange for weapons from another pack. These transactions are often based on mutual benefit rather than a standard value system.   In terms of economics, Becceorian do not place much importance on material possessions or wealth. The measure of success in their society is based on strength, power, and dominance over others. Therefore, social status is determined by one's ability to command a strong pack and defeat challengers.   Food production is also not a significant part of Becceorian life. They primarily rely on hunting and gathering for sustenance while traveling through different territories. In times of shortage or famine, they may turn to cannibalism as alternative means of obtaining food.

Conflict

Conflicts and wars among Becceorian are common and often brutal affairs. These conflicts can originate from a variety of sources, including personal vendettas, territorial disputes, or competition for resources. They are known for their quick tempers and aggressive nature, making conflicts among them intense and bloody.   Personal conflicts can arise over any perceived slight or offense. As a highly honor-bound society, Becceorian place great importance on respect and reputation. Any insult or slight to one's honor can result in a challenge to combat or even retaliation against the offender. Territorial disputes are also common among Becceorian, as they constantly seek to expand their territory and prove their dominance over other packs. These disputes often result in violent clashes between opposing packs, leaving a trail of destruction in their wake.   Competition for resources is another source of conflict among Becceorian. While they primarily rely on raiding neighboring planets for resources, there may be times when these resources run scarce within their own territories. In these cases, packs may turn against each other to secure valuable resources such as food, weapons, or animals.   Becceorian wars are known for their brutality and violence. They have no qualms about using any means necessary to defeat their enemies, including tactics such as ambushes, surprise attacks, and even nuclear warfare. The goal is always total domination over the enemy and the acquisition of more resources for themselves.

Role within the Hivivian

The Becceorian are a relatively new addition to the Hivivian. However, in just a short time, they have quickly risen through the ranks and established themselves as one of the most feared species within the alliance. Their strength, aggression, and natural combat abilities make them well suited for various roles within the Hivivian.   One of their primary roles is serving as heavy shocktroopers. These are elite soldiers who are tasked with breaking through enemy defenses and causing chaos and destruction on the battlefield. Becceorian shocktroopers are known for their brute force and ability to withstand heavy fire, making them valuable assets in intense battles. They are often used in situations where other species may not be able to endure or break through enemy lines. In addition to their role as shocktroopers, Becceorian also serve as squadron commanders within the Hivivian military. These commanders lead groups of lesser species.   Becceorian also play an important role in securing territory for the Hivivian. Their aggressive nature makes them well suited for undertaking dangerous missions. They excel at quickly claiming land and resources, further solidifying their position as vital members of the Hivivian.

Relations with Other Hivivian Species

Due to their reputation for aggression and dominance, relations between Becceorian and other Hivivian species can be tense at times. They are respected for their strength and fighting abilities but may also be viewed with fear or caution by other species.   Becceorian typically do not form strong alliances or friendships with other species within the collective. They see themselves as superior to others and may view those who are not as physically strong or aggressive as weak. This attitude can often lead to conflicts and clashes with other Hivivian species. One of the main sources of tension for Becceorian is their rivalry with the Shilizal, one of the Hivivian's founding species. The Shilizal are known for their organized culture and strong code of honor, which can sometimes come into conflict with the Becceorian's preference for brute force.   The Becceorian also have a complex relationship with another Hivivian species, the Solators. The Solators are a highly intellectual and pacifist species that value knowledge and peaceful coexistence above all else. While they respect the Becceorian's strength, they also disapprove of their violent tendencies and often try to mediate conflicts between them and other species. Despite these tensions, there have been instances where Becceorian have formed alliances or working relationships with other Hivivian species. This is typically only done when it benefits their own pack or strengthens their position within the Hivivian. However, these alliances are often short-lived due to conflicting interests or values.
