Sagittari United Armed Forces
The very large and powerful military arm of the Sagittari Union. It is numerous and heavily-armed given the Sagittari Union's relatively small size and population.
Structure
There are only three branches (with specialized subordinate units like Cyber Warfare, Atmospheric Aviation, or Strategic Arsenal), those being the Army, the Navy, and Patrol. These all fall under the purview of the Sagittari United Armed Forces, whose Joint Commandant has a permanent membership on the United Committee.
Public Agenda
The SUAF aims to protect the Sagittari and humanity from all threats (external or internal) with an immense arsenal at the hands of highly-trained and motivated soldiers. It serves as an outlet for the militaristic enthusiasm prevalent in its parent organization and provides the critically-needed hard power and intimidation factor that is so often found in Sagittari foreign policy and planning.
Assets
The Sagittari Army is disproportionately large for its population, and is sufficiently equipped to where a rifleman can compete with Standard Infantry templates. These are supplemented by a wide array of armored and aerial elements, and powerful yet nimble mech suits that can reach eighty meters in height. A similar level of sophistication applies to the Sagittari Navy, which relies greatly on superheavy warships to establish dominance in a war. The Patrol serves as a reserve force and organized militia, if a militia had access to antimatter weaponry and powerful battleships.
There is a strong preference for particle lances and fast-firing, small-caliber kinetic weapons over lasers and disintegrators, which shows in even the largest constructions of the SUAF. While the venerable and simple sub-caliber sabot is the general-purpose round for SUAF electromagnetic accelerators, even the Army's ammunition replicator backpacks are able to quickly transition the standard bullpup assault railgun over to proximity-fused plasma grenades or subsonic slugs with the swap of a magazine. Having easy access to a variety of specialized ammo provides a degree of versatility and flexibility that SUAF soldiers greatly appreciate, whether it is in a running urban firefight or a point-blank exchange between superheavy warships.
While the Sagittari are obviously the designers and builders of their vaunted military, there are quite a few visual similarities with certain F-MAG designs. Usually, it is the case that there are some historical roots to centuries-old Federation weapon systems, or it is similar doctrine and overlapping design goals that lead to such coincidences. Rarely, the asset in question was licensed to one nation by the other.
History
The Sagittari Union Armed Forces were founded in the original Sagittari charter, as an integral part of its mission to preserve its portion of humanity. Its history is inextricable from the early struggles of the proto-Union as former F-MAG units during the nightmarish Triumphator Holy Reclamation.
Demography and Population
In total, an unmobilized SUAF maintains approximately a hundred trillion combatants and twenty billion warships, and just like in other post-scarcity civilizations these numbers can spike by multiples of ten or twenty during wartime.
