Electromagnetic Accelerator

A broad class of kinetic weapons which accelerates a mass through the use of electromagnetic phenomena, such as railguns and gauss cannons.

Utility

Gauss rifles and railguns are the two common takes on electromagnetic projectile weapons. Many high-end electromagnetic accelerators blur the lines between the two technologies, but the goal is the same: apply some form of electromagnetic phenomena to accelerate dense projectiles to extremely high velocities. These devices are found everywhere, from the Sagittari infantryman's standard rifle to the enormous kilometers-long railguns favored as primary weapons on Federation battleships. Electromagnetic launchers frequently overlap with many particle lances.

A staple of many spacefaring societies, which has persisted even in the armories of the Federation, Kri'tak Clans, and Sagittari Union due to their simplicity and versatility.
