Interdimensional Portals

IEA classified information. Do not reproduce.

Interdimensional Portals are a technology which allows members of the Institute of Extradimensional Anthropology to travel to other world. They work by punching through a fabric of reality and creating a tunnel to another dimension. Once activated, a portal must be calibrate and connected to a dimension. Next, an operator must aim at the target spot to open a passage. Once opened, it is a two-way street. People can move freely between worlds until the portal is closed. When closing a portal, coordinates of the destination are kept for future use.

Portal calibrated, destination locked. Open!

I like the idea of this new world :D It's interesting that only the people of the institute have access to the portal. They must be very powerful to prevent other people from getting access to them, with how curious everyone is bound to me about the possibilities of other worlds.   An aspect I would be interesting to know is what powers the portal and what is the cost of keeping it opened vs reopening it every time (for example for some lights it uses them more to turn them on and off than to live them on for a long time).
