Ne'puz'Cek (ne puuz check)

The Ne'puz'Cek, or the Plaguekin, are a parasitic organism which survives by possessing other organic beings and feeding off their being, able to take over the brain and control the host as if it were their own body.

Basic Information

Anatomy

The Plaguekin are a group of sentient bacteria, bound by innate Inkallu. They are microscopic and are usually interacted with while they are being hosted by another creature.

Genetics and Reproduction

Plaguekin reproduce asexually, by duplicating themselves. This can only happen every few centuries, as it near kills the Plaguekin in question.

Growth Rate & Stages

A Plaguekin, once formed, generally takes a century or so to gain sentience and fully develop, until which they inhabit whichever host they were born into.

Ecology and Habitats

Plaguekin must take hosts to survive, only staying alive for a short while outside one. The host must be a living biological organism, and can range from a Human to a Tree, to another bacteria in the dirt.

Dietary Needs and Habits

The Plaguekin need to eat and generally feed their host, eating them from the inside out. They can feed on any biological organism, with those who live among other species generally doing so, rather than eat their host or their companions.

While in the host's body, they have all the sensory capabilities of their host. When not in a host body, they have no sensory abilities aside from a heat sense, which guides them to targets.

Symbiotic and Parasitic organisms

The Plaguekin are parasites, though many live in a much more symbiotic fashion. Their process of taking on hosts involves being absorbed into the bloodstream and making their way up to the brain, or the closest thing they have to a nerve center. From there, whenever the needs arises, they can eat through the host over a course of days to years, leaving them completely hollow inside.

Plaguekin do not attempt to steal hosts from one another, outside dire circumstance, as the resulting pushing out can kill the expelled Plaguekin.

Whatever culture the Plageukin may have had on their home planet was not brought with them.

History

PLaguekin were discovered fairly recently, by a Spirit Cartel science expedition on the other side of the Korinthian Gulf. The scientists onboard had been completely eaten alive by their return, and the Plaguekin who came with them, some several thousand, spread throughout the known Rift. They have a sour reputation. due to their parasitic biology and the fact that the most famous Plaguekin tend to work in the business of mass slaughter.

Plaguekin cannot reproduce with other species in their natural forms. Whether or not their hosts can depend on the host.
