For Hooves the Bell Tolls - Chapter Ten

Long Arm of the Law Quthbert, Thorzan, Marinus, Malbrix, & A.G.R. 653 Post Maelstrom
The party awakens the next morning, after a long rest in that ruins. Malbrix, whos eyes are still glowing purple after the event the night before, finally manages to translates the dagger. It reads “I need blood.”   As the party wakes and gets their bearing they realize that the stairs are back this morning. They do a last sweep of all the rooms, find nothing else to see, and begin their ascent up the stairs.   As Quthbert crests the top of the stairs, he comes face to face with The Iron Order Arbiter that has been following them. One of the Inquisitor steps toward Quthbert and takes of his helmet revealing himself to be Bayanor.   The Arbiter informs them they are under arrest and asks them to come peacefully. He reads off their crimes and types of arrests from his warrant. The majority of the party is set to be taken to Vulanti City to await trial, but Quthbert is sentenced to be sent straight to Shatterguard, the Imperial high security prison. The rest of the party is shocked, but Quthbert just hangs his head seeming to know why.   Marinus, Malbrix, and Thorzan balk at the claims, but AGR just straight admits to the crimes. The party is shocked, but it turns out AGR was very conflicted over their past deeds. Marinus, Malbrix, and Thorzan resist, but quickly get arrested. Quthbert tries to run, but the Arbiter misty stepped in front of him and caught Quthbert in a hold person.   The party are all cuffed and ushered into a wagon. Their weapons are stripped from them and placed in a chest on the wagon. It would take them a week to reach the capital so the party rested up and planned. On the third day the Arbiter rode ahead to report the mission in the next town.   As they approached the bridge, that crosses the River Imperial, the party decides to enact their escape attempt. Malbrix and Thorzan convince AGR that he is a valued member of their party and that they would all try to do better going forward, but that they didn't deserve to go to jail for what is at least partially a misunderstanding. AGR agrees to help. Thorzan used his training, that he learned so many years ago from the monks at the Ormuus' Hope monastery, to smash the lock holding them inside. Miraculously neither of the guards following behind noticed the lock break free.   They steel themselves, then throw the back door open and jump the guards riding behind. Quthburt climbs around the outside of the wagon and AGR pulls himself onto the top. Together they capture the drivers seat and secure their gear. The party, now in control of the wagon, maneuver it onto the bridge. Thorzan slashes the horses free as Malbrix catches the wagon aflame. Securing their own mounts, who were being led behind the rear guard, the party rides north away from Vulanti City while the bridge burns behind them...
