Infrastructure
Canterbury is a millenia old city. It has ruins beneath it, old bones. The 3/4 of the city is encircled by a 30ft wall. The other 1/4 of the city is a more recent addition made over the past decades as populations rush to the city. These are permanent buildings, but a more modern expansion of the city. Extensive sewers, added to haphazardly over the years, spider web beneath the surface, so much so that the city is well known for people disappearing down there.
Canterbury is the home of modern accounting and education. There are schools, guilds, and apprenticeships of all varieties in this city. Many people will send their children here for apprenticeships as a way to more easily enter the Canterbury university system. Even members of the nobility and royal families from other nations send their children to Canterbury universities for specialized learning.
Given its size and age, Canterbury has a huge number of food providers, with a relatively new service called restaurants. This offers specialized foreign dishes from all across the land in one place. With the high population of wealthy, highly educated, and often bored citizens, this business has proven quite popular. Canterbury also has many magical schools and a large collection of expert architects.
There is a Divine district of the city where the Church of Torm is centered. There is a small presence of other religions, specifically Oghma (Lord of Knowledge) and Waukeen (Goddess of Commerce). Of course the one dominating the skyline and city is Torm. They are the official religion of Hycernia, and most of the Tormtar (Torm priesthood) and Swords of Torm is housed in or passes through Canterbury. Members of the Torm Church are called Tormish. The head priest and leader of the church, Holy Champion Penelope Mockingjay, is an elderly but hawkish woman who has been consolidating influence in the church for the past 2 decades.
The land around Canterbury is fertile, with large fields of corn and wheat growing around the city for miles and miles. This makes Canterbury an exporter of food, and proficient in storing food for the long term. No siege has ever toppled Canterbury.

History
Canterbury was founded more than a millennia ago, and it's name has evolved over time (Canu Bel, Kant Bel, Kanel Berry, Canutbury, and now Canterbury). Canterbury was one of the few cities that survived relatively unscathed during the internecine wars between the various kingdoms and city states that rose and fell in this region.
In the recent past, Prince ray the Red triumphed in the annual Canterbury Games and was given dominion over Canterbury and its region, while the other 4 Princes were allocated to the other regions. Prince Ray is effectively the ruler of Hycernia concerning domestic matters. King Griffon established this system to determine which adopted son would gain his favor and influence, but also remind each son that their position cannot be maintained alone. It also freed up King Griffon's time to enjoy his food, drink, and travels while handling foreign matters. The next Canterbury games are scheduled in the next 3 months.
Hycernia has a strong trading relationship with Hayasa-Azzi, but has been approached strongly by the Nobunaga Theocracy in the past several weeks. King Griffon responded slowly to the rising tensions, and only began speaking to both nations after hostilities broke out between Hayasa-Azzi and Nobunaga in the past couple of weeks.
