"Damn, they're rollin' in a paddy wagon! Scatter!" -an unknown gang member
With technology advancing rapidly, and especially with the development of the
realm engine, transportation quickly shifted from horses to cars and trucks. The police, therefore, needed a new vehicle which could transport prisoners or officers quickly across an expanding city. Generally there are two types of police vans; assualt and transport.
Assault
Assault vans are quick-response vehicles designed to transport up to ten officers, one driver and nine passengers, and heavy equipment to an incident. The van is moderately armored against firearms and has anti-magic
MOTE paneling. Typically these vehicles are only deployed for large incidents, such as gang violence, or for display of force at events like rallies or public speeches.
Transport
Transport vans are used to transport prisoners, usually from the
city jail to an actual prison following their sentencing. The van can fit six prisoners and four guards; two guards in the back of the van to watch the prisoners, the other two up front to drive and navigate. The back has quick-lock latches on the floor to attatch a prisoners feet shackles to.
Chusett Police Dept. Specifications
The earliest model of police van dates back to the early 1930's, but they have been replaced and upgraded around every seven to ten years. The latest model, the NT Kujira, is the best the CPD has seen. The engine is of a new design; a four cylinder multi-input system tuned for maximum torque. The newly designed suspension system provides more support while absorbing more shock allowing for a smoother ride and better handling. The Kujira is capable of withstanding small arms munitions and has magic-nullifying MOTE panels. There is a civilian version of the van, the Iruka, which has the same engine but none of the armor upgrades.
