Azikorri Galetto

Commander Azikorri Tomilin Galetto (a.k.a. Azia)

Azikorri Galetto is the head of the Elite Squad of the Mordisi City Watch. She is the youngest of the city's department heads, at only 25 years old. She earned the title by beating all the other contenders in one on one combat when the last head of the elite passed away six months ago in the line of duty. Both her father and mother were part of the Elite Squad until they passed away.  Her mother was killed in the line of duty.  Her father drank himself to death after her mother passed away.

Mental characteristics

Education

Azia spent her childhood learning how to be an elite officer from both her mother, father, and various "aunties" and "uncles" from the Elite Squad. Most of her childhood was spent with the other children born to the members of the Elite Squad, where they were all schooled in how to be an elite member, both in mind, body, and spirit.  Azia knew from a very young age that she wanted to be the best of the best and to learn to run the squad itself.  She made friends with Jazki Osal, the leader at that time, and spent time with him in his office as he was leading the squad.  She learned how to lead from watching Uncle Jaz lead his elite.  She learned how to listen and communicate by watching Uncle Jaz in meetings with both his Elite and the other department heads and the mayor.  When she was 13, she became his intern and started to learn the paperwork and day to day minutia of running the Elite Squad.  At 15, when her mother died in the line of duty and her father followed her six months later, Azia went to live with her Uncle Jaz and his wife.

Employment

By the time she was 18, she was earning her Elite Stripes, and she knew more about the Elite Squad than anyone else, except for Uncle Jaz. At 21, she was his second in command. Uncle Jaz died in the line of duty when Azia was 24, three weeks before her 25th birthday.  Azia stepped up and took over the squad. She knew it was her time to shine.   There was a four week period of mourning for Jazki Osal before the right of conquest would begin to determine who would be the next commander of the elite squad.  Azia spent her mornings training, her afternoons with Uncle Jaz's wife in mourning, and her evenings making sure all the paperwork was ready for the transition.   On the morning of the conquest, Azia confidently entered the arena.  There were 32 men and women ready to battle for the right to become commander. It started with 16 fights to eliminate 16 contestants.  Azia fought her first fight to first blood in no time.  There were several contestants who had no right to be in the conquest, but any elite has the right to enter, not just the top tier. The second set of fights eliminated another 8 contestants. This fight was little harder as she fought against a childhood friend, but she knew the friend's weakness and took her out with the first 5 minutes.   The third set of fights were the hardest set for Azia before the final. Her opponent was a full Orc which stood 7' tall and weighed almost twice she did.  She spent most of her time dancing around him, keeping out of striking distance, so that he couldn't get to her.  She knew if he could touch her then it would be all over.  Finally, after an hour of running all over the arena, the Orc slowed down enough that she could get through his defences and strike for first blood.  That ended the first day of the Conquest.     The second day dawn bright and early.  Azia was still feeling the soreness in her thighs from running all over the arena with that Orc.  She stretched her muscles and prepared for the final day of fighting. Two fights to go.  The semi-finals and finals.   Azia entered the arena prepared and ready to fight.  Her first fight was evenly matched to her, a women a few years older than her, but with none of the passion.  Azia drew first blood by daring to leave an opening in her defence.  When the women was close enough, Azia closed the opening by bringing up her dagger and grazing it on the back of the woman's hand.  When all she needed was first blood, it didn't matter to her where she drew it.   The last fight was the toughest yet.  Her opponent, Markas Jasari, was another elite that she knew though not well.  He had come to the elite squad a few years back when his ship had been taken by the Morea Pirate Horde Guild.  He was the lone survivor.  The squad paid the bounty to the pirate guid and he had paid the squad back within two years, which was quick by anyone estimations.  Now, she had to fight him to first blood.   The fight was vicious and both of them put all their passion and training into it.  They stepped into each engagement as if it would be their last.  Neither gave way to the other, until at long last, Markas turned his body slightly towards her sword instead of away as he should have and took a slight cut to his shoulder.  She knew it was a deliberate move, but she was going to say anything.  She didn't know how much longer she would have last against him. She didn't think anyone else would have noticed it. She wouldn't have if she hadn't been engaged in the fight itself. She decided to make him her second in the Elite Squad.  It would be a punishment and thank you all rolled up into one.
