Overview

Akilinia is a mixed heritage city on Ironsea Island known for its exotic seafood.

Demographics

Akilinia started out as a mix of Tritons and Humans that blended together and now have breed into a true mixed race. The town is mostly farmers and their support and trade structure.

Government

Akilinia is run by a town council of seven members.  At least three members of the town council must be current or former fishermen.

Industry & Trade

Akilinia is built on the fishermen trade.  During the spring and summer months, they catch fish.  During the autumn and winter months, they catch seafood.  Akilinia is known for some of the most exotic seafood, from the deepest ocean on Inanta.

History

In 1522, Akilinia was settled by a small group of human farmers. They didn't know if they would make it pass by winter months, and by spring they were down to a handful of settlers. They were ready to give up and move on to the mainland when they were visited by party of Triton's from Tritonia, an underwater city not far from their village. The leader of the Triton party spoke to the about a treaty they were willing to make with the settlers.
In every generation of Tritons, there are some born that can't survive long term underwater. They still have a lot of the special abilities that most Tritons have, but by the time that they are considered adults by Triton standards, their capacity to live underwater full-time is gone. In the past these unfortunates have been sent to the mainland to make their way alone, outcast, never to return to Tritonia. The Tritons hate this and miss this piece of their families.
In return for taking in those Tritons that can't live underwater, the Tritons will teach the settlers how to fish and catch seafood. As long as they continue to take in the unfortunates, the Tritons will led them to the best places to fish and catch seafood. The two, Akilinia and Tritonia, will work in harmony.
On Aki 18, 1523, the first Triton was accepted as a citizen of Akilinia. This has led to a partnership between the two, with sharing of trade, citizens, and knowledge.
