Vril Invasion

A war for the gateway to the Forbidden Zone

In the fall of 999 PCE Badland scouts travelling out of Vrelland began roaming the border lands of Silver Lake and Pachuco. After a series of skirmishes against Pachuco war parties the Vril raiders established a camp in the arid hills of the White Sand Mountains. For a time this arrangement seemed to content the Vril, who began expanding their settlement and imposing their will on the nearby village of Trinity.

These Vril invaders, emboldened by the light resistance offered by the local tribes and homesteaders eventually siezed control of Trinity on December 21^st (the day of the winter solstice) and forced the population into servitude. Rumours began to spread about abductions and ritual executions. Panic spread across the Pachuco coast and the outlying communities on the Trinity road began to evacuate their homes and seek refuge within the relative safety of Pachuco City.

For many living at the old trade port of Farport Outpost it was too late to escape. On January 7^th 1000 PCE, the Vril struck south from Trinity and seized control of Farport. A small force held the port and put the captured villagers to the sword while the larger body of the Vril Warband pushed further south to lay siege to Pachuco City.

By January 23^rd the Vril had assembled a force of 10, 000 warriors and surrounded the walls of Pachuco. The invaders constructed wooden forts and pallisades. They dug trenches, set up picket walls in the open fields, and demonstrated a degree of tactical and engineering acumen hitherto unseen in the history of Vril military incursions.

While the situation at Pachuco City continued to worsen, on January 31^st a ship from Noirlan arrived at Farport Outpost. The Vril garrison, led by a Cave Master known as Pacui, tried to ambush the Merikan crew of the SS Hawke. After a brief battle at the Farport lighthouse, the party of Merikan adventurers defeated Pacui's warband and took control of Farport.
