Pachucese

The language spoken by the Pachuco nation

Introduction

This language is spoken by the Pachuco nation, a powerful culture group centered upon the Valley of Ejidum on the edge of the Forbidden Zone. Their language is derived from the Old Ornish language of the fallen Orad Empire and thus related to the dialect of Modern Ornish currently spoken in the Silverlands of Arenko.

Idiomatic Expressions

Like the other Zoner nations the people of Pachuco derive many of their cultural characteristics from the legacy of the cataclysm. For this reason many of Pachuco's oldest idiomatic expressions are historical anachronisms. These include references to phenomena of the dimly remembered Age of Poisoned Sea and Sky and implements of Late- Precursor technology.

"Check your levels" : Seek medical care
"Go underground" : Take shelter
"Breathing clouds" : Acting in an irrational manner
"Save those words" : Said to praise a notable utterance
"For remembrance" : Said of a notable act
"Honour the fire" : Common salutary greeting in the Pachuco nation

Writing System

Pachucese uses the ancient Latin alphabet of the Precursors and largely shares the phonic sounds of the Common English tongue.

Geographical Distribution

The Pachucese language is spoken in a large geographic area from the Rift Mountains to the Village of Trinity throughout the eastern wilderness of Pachuco Jungle and the Outramar Expanse. Its geographic reach stretches north from Barrier Lake to the catchment of the Vale River and is even spoken on Lowdown Island at the western edge of Silver Lake.
