The Delphi Pact was a military alliance formed in 972 PCE to oppose the Hidden Empire of the Princes. Dedicated to liberating the lands held in bondage by the Tetrarchy's slave-state of Gamorod, the alliance's eventual victory at the The Battle of New York led to the founding of the new Merikan Republic.
Structure
The alliance was formally ratified by its members within the Merikan city-state of Delphi, which would later be known as Union Delphi, capital of the Republic. The members approved Governor Andra Marcus of Georgia as Head of Council and accepted Lord Fredrick Brasden as Commander in Chief.
When the Laradan Free State agreed to join the coalition, Fredrick successfully proposed Marshal Rollon Leroux's appointment as Supreme Commander of all alliance forces. Fredrick's charismatic leadership held the Delphi Pact together, but he knew it could only succeed under Leroux's unified command. Governor Marcus kept the Merikan states in line by suppressing the anti-muto sentiment voiced against the pact's new Laradan allies.
History
The alliance nearly failed to coalesce. Many claim that the aggressive diplomacy of Noirlan's Chastain barons made the critical difference in securing ratification of the Delphi treaty. Erdric Chastain delivered a significant speech before the Laradan delegation at the Guidestone Conference. This speech is credited with convincing the Laradans to join the alliance in spite of lingering mistrust between Merikans and Outlanders.
