Desiccation

A hereditary condition that can affect Cambilic bloodlines if the host reaches a century in age. While it is never guaranteed at this age, it seems to be the most common age for cambilics to be affected by it.   This condition affects elderly cambilic, and it rapidly ages and flakes their cells until they eventually dissolve.

Transmission & Vectors

The disease is genetic, and only appears in cambilic bloodlines. It is non-infectious, and cannot be transmitted to another person except for genetically.

Symptoms

Severe lethargy, flaking of skin, mood swings, loss of appetite, rashes. All symptoms are worsened over time until the point of death.

Treatment

The only treatment for it treats the symptoms, which is getting lots of rest, and using creams to combat the state of the skin.

Prognosis

The condition is fatal, although the death it results is usually peaceful as it often occurs during sleep.   The process of the condition starts out lightly, with each symptom worsening until the cambilics death, upon which they will seemingly "dissolve" into dust.

Prevention

There is no known prevention for Desiccation.

History

Desiccation has been known for a very long time amongst demons, but is virtually unknown to even humanity who are involved with cambilic bloodlines. The disease origin is considered to be a type of incompatibility between some human genes and demons, although it has not been discovered which genes within humanity, or which type of demons.

Cultural Reception

Amongst cambilic and human families, the condition causes a lot of worry for those who haven't heard of it before, and it often stays that way until a demon chips in with the demonic opinion on it.   Demons view desiccation as an unfortunate and rather sad side effect of cambilics, and cambilic bloodlines who have seen it before often view it much like how dementia is viewed within humanity.
