Inciting a war in Abonia

While Bastian was still living in the west of the Later Rhemian Empire, he sent messages to various members of the nobility and Declarant clergy in Abonia. These messages were intended to stir up anti-Communal sentiment, but especially to firmly entrench the idea of himself as a valuable asset and good candidate for the kingship of Abonia.   The older Immortals were aware that such messages had been sent and although they couldn't hope to intercept all of them, it was their hope that stopping even a few would slow down the spreading hatred and lessen confidence in Bastian. This was a letter they succeeded in obtaining and probably a fair example of most of the letters Bastian sent.
My most esteemed Martin,   It is my fondest hope that this letter finds you and your family well, or as well as any may be under the despicable rule of a Communal institution. Praise be to Andor that you may at least still lead your people in prayer to Him as you wish, although it is a very real concern to me whether this shall remain so. Please convey my sincerest good wishes to your pastors as well as these messages I set down below. Although it is but natural that I should prefer our spiritual customs of the west, all of us who seek the true path to Andor should unite in our efforts against the domineering and corrupting influence of the Communal church who would seek to divide us. I do not speak only for myself in these wishes, but for the other members of our Declarant union as well.   This unbridled and unwholesome influence of the Communal church is a point of which it is imperative that the people understand. Their eternal lives after Earth are endangered in the hands of the Communals, leading to darkness and cold rather than our proper rights as loyal followers of Andor. We ask you in the strongest terms that your pastors ingrain this realisation into their followers and into those who still blindly believe in the right of the Communal church. Furthermore we should communicate clearly our grievances against the Communals concerning the issue of the use of property for worship. It is not right that so much land and facilities should be preserved for the use of Communal (false!) worship only when many of those who live nearby are unable to find a suitable place to conduct their worship.   It seems to us in the union that Abonia could become a true stronghold of Declarant worship, which refutes the dogma of the Empire and the Communal church. Mayhap this could lead to an even greater Declarant union. We are therefore eager to lend you our support in establishing such a stronghold and look forward to hearing of your efforts and advances in the topics described above.   Your humble and obedient servant, Bastian
