The recently-removed ruler of Falondis is Prince Edmund, late-King Levondel's first cousin on his father's side. Edmund's father was younger brother to Levondel's father and died young in a duel when Edmund was only four years old. As a result, Edmund was formally adopted by his uncle, Levondel's father, the then-King and he and Levondel were raised together. Though Levondel was several years older than Edmund, they remained great friends after his coronation, and Edmund served as military advisor to the king until his death and his own appointment as regent.
