General Info:
The Dead Man's Gullet is an inn and tavern located in the old district of Arborden. Typically its full busy, raucous patrons from all over the empire. Business has slowed due to the recent halting of ships and the owner, Jenia Nailo, is struggling to keep the place running. The tavern is staffed by a Dragon-born named Rollo, a Halfling named Davin, and owned by Jenia Nailo who is a Half-Elf. The bar is named 'The Dead Man's Gullet' as a bit of dark joke. Jenia's father said he would "stop drinking when he was dead". He's still alive, but the image stuck with her.
Menu-
The Oarman's Delight (1 sp): Local salmon fillet seared in a cast-iron skillet, roasted with smashed garlic, watercress, and thyme. Side of roasted asparagus
Gnomish Mushroom Wine(7 cp a glass): Wine made from pressing a kind of purple mushroom, put into a barrel with yeast, and aged for 6 months. A favorite of Gnomes and... an acquired taste for everyone else.
Broken Bow Beer(5 cp a mug): tasty beer from a local distillery
Incense: A whole range of natural smells that include Poppy, Lavender, Sweet Fig, Pomegranate, Pine, Elm, Oak, and Birch.
Rumors-
Pick 1 that would make sense given the context- People have been disappearing off the streets at night. The targets only seem to be foreigners, and its been scaring off travelers as if the ship raids weren't enough
- Jenia has begun to hear strange noises in her cellar; wants PCs to check it out (mimic in the cellar).
- Heard some hunters slayed a griffon across the river 7 miles from here. The eggs are massive and would make a delicious omlette. She'll pay 100 gold for each egg
Staff-
Jenia Nailo: Half-Elf; black hair that is cut short. Full cheeks, a short slightly upturned nose, and is slightly over average build. She wears leather armor over a frilly white shirt, black boot, and carries a rapier. She is passionate about her inn and will do anything for it. She has a soft spot for those in need and provides work for those with nowhere else to turn. She makes incense, a family practice from her Elf mother's side of the family.
Rollo: Dragon-born; muted gold in color with horns like that of an ibex. He has a long snout bearing old scars. His scales look old and worn, and has a stubby tail. He wears typical commoners clothing with a white apron over it. Rollo works as the inn's chef, having been a cook in the army. He's proud of what he does and one day wants to write a cookbook with recipes he learned on his travels with his childhood caravan.
