Scuirians

Scurians are small, squirrel-like humanoids that hail from the The Forest of Hummingguard. Standing about 3-4' tall, with a tail about the same length, they can be found sporting red, grey or black fur.   Ancestral Traits   Size. These are not large creatures, never really growing past 4 feet. Your size is Small. You gain a +1 size bonus to AC, a +1 size bonus on attack rolls, and a +4 size bonus on Stealth checks.   Speed. Your base walking speed is 30 feet. You have a climbing speed of 30 feet.   Naturally Nimble. Your squirrel-like form grants you super reflexes and amazing agility. You are proficient in the Acrobatics skill, gaining advantage on any skill check related to movement through wooded areas.   Ability Score Increase. Your Dexterity score increases by 1, and your Charisma score increases by 1.   Age. Scuirian mature at the age of 7 and generally can live up to 60 years old.   Footpads. You reflexes are well equipped to save you from falling to your death. You take no falling damage if you fall from heights of 60 feet or less.   Languages. You can speak, read and write Common and Scui. Scui is a language of nose movements, tail flicks, and various different squeaks. It is written using Elvish script.   Teleport (Recharge 4-6): a scuirian can magically teleport, along with any equipment it is wearing or carrying, up to 40 ft. to an unoccupied space it can see. Before or after teleporting, the character can make one attack.   Subraces. Choose a subrace from red scuirian, grey scuirian, or black scurian.     Red Scuirian - While arguably the cutest of the scuirians, they pride themselves more for their speed.   Ability Score Increase. Your Charisma and Dex scores increases by and additional 1.   Scurry. Your size and limber form allow you to slip by other creatures. You can move through spaces occupied by creatures of Medium or larger size as though it is difficult terrain.   Grey Scuirian - These scuirians are much more intellectually developed, being very curious. They are less about direct combat and more on reconnaissance tactics.   Ability Score Increase. Your Intelligence score increases by 1.   Discerning Eye. Your eye is trained to find things of interest. You have advantage in Intelligence (Investigation) checks to look for items.   Ever Wary - You're always aware of your surroundings and never completely let down your guard. During the surprise round and before your first action in combat, you can apply half your Dexterity bonus (if any) to your AC. You still count as flat-footed for the purposes of attacks and effects.   Danger Detection: +4 racial bonus on Perception checks to notice a creature using Stealth, as well as Perception checks to notice a weapon being drawn or a hidden trap (or similar signs of danger, subject to the GM’s discretion).   Black Scuirian - The strongest of the scuirians have black fur and are stalwart front-liners in battle.   Ability Score Increase. Your Strength score increases by 1.   Military Training. You are proficient in one additional weapon of your choice outside your normal class options.   Tacticial Thought. You have advantage in Intelligence (History) checks when recalling battle formations and war positions.   Scamper - In desperate times, your adrenaline kicks in to help you avoid danger. During the first round of combat in which you can act, you ignore difficult terrain and gain an additional 5 feet of movement. This benefit does not apply when you are carrying a medium or heavier load.     Cultural Traits   Martial Archery - Being small, a Scuirian's weapons will also be small. A dagger serves as a long sword, and their small bows notch small arrows, which cause little damage. Due to their highly maneuverable nature, bows are the best choice to take advantage of their abilities. Archery is a constant in the every day life of a Scuirian. Even those Scuirian who don't strive for greatness with a bow are still far better shots than any other species. As a result, they can fire a bow 2x a round, and all shots are at advantage.
