Gnome

The Gnomes of Illios are a intelligent race, they enjoy the wonders of life, the race is often described as curious and impulsive, traits that are responsible for both there greatest achievements, and most devastating disasters.
This is a race which display vibrancy and energy in all things they do, from there fashion to there research. 
While the rest of the land divided into Kingdoms, it was the Gnomes who decided a monarchy was to controlling, squandering the vibrancy of life. Therefore the Gnomes elected to work as a unified republic of city states. Known as Gnormandy, while the Gnomes have waged war against one another, to them war within is fine, however should a foreign power attempt such a thing then the Gnome cities will band together to repel the force.
It was the Gnome's curious nature which lead to the discovery of Artifice, one of, if not the greatest technological achievements in history.  However it was this there impulsive nature which lead them to create constructs they could no longer control. Birthing the Warforged who now terrorize there lands.
