Aldrhn

Alderpriest

The Alderpriests of the Aldrim are an ancient group of elven mages. They are skilled biomancers, who can controll the very lifeforce of a being. While they act primarily as healers, their offensive abilities are feared also.

Powers

The Alderpriests are biomancers, but can also be grouped into the category of necromancers, as the boundary is quite fluid. They are part of the magical tradition of the Aldrim elves.
Their power is the controll of a persons' lifeforce, they are considered the most proficient and powerful biomancers. Even their presence alone can increase of diminish a person's life. Touch can give them total controll over the life of a person.   Alderpriests are special among biomancers, as they can not only controll, transfer, drain and infuse someone with life, they have amassed a large amount of lifeforce within themself. All Alderpriests are considered Undying and are over a thousand years old. Thus the Alderpriest can always fall back on an sheer neverending reservoir of strength. Additionally the physical appearance of an Alderpriest is drastically changed. Their skin is white as marble, while being cracked like a tree's bark. Their eyes are bright red, as are their veins. Between the cracks in their skin, blood is constantly visible. A lot of these changes are due to how the Alderpriest cultivates their power. They drain the lifeforce of certain trees. They can only ever recieve a small amount of it at a time. Additionally a plant can never give as much as higher animals or even sapient beings. Taking lifeforce from certain plants also carries other magical abilities. The peculiarities of this are kept secret by the Alderspriests themself. They abstain from gaining power by draining sapient beings of their life, something which is practised by the Shatun. They do however use this technique to kill nonetheless.   In battle, Alderpriests can act as healers and warriors. As healers they can effectively make their subordinate warriors immortal by lending them as much lifeforce as possible. As warriors they can both increase their own physical strength and drain their enemies of their lifeforce. Few can ever say, that they have faced an Alderpriest in battle. One of the few to survive such an encounter was Noritë, who faced off against one of the last masters of their profession.

History

Alderpriests were once much more numerous in the past. They were the prime of Aldrim society and represented their leaders. Most Alderpriests had lived for over four thousand years until the War against the Second God. Some probably reached similar ages as the Empress of Eternal Spring. It is said, that she once killed a hundred Alderpriests in one battle, as they were too close to her own age and she wanted to never lose her position as oldest person in history.   After the wars against the Empire of Eternal Spring and the War against the Second God, the numbers of Alderpriests declined steadily. It is said that the quality of mages simply declined, their discipline and how the traditions of old were preserved. As it takes over a thousand years to cultivate this power, thus it is hard for anyone to be raplaced.   During the Age of Dauler only a few can be considered to have mastered this tradition wholly. Their numbers are well below a hundred, there might be not even ten of them who remain.
