Purpose / Function

tba "The Nexus Arena is the colosseum built and maintained in the Vilhon district of Azmar. Though this city has always operated on the premise of "Do no harm unless harm is done unto you", the First Suite of Silver saw the need to train soldiers and warriors for the purpose of protection, erecting this arena as a training ground. As the city grew and the territory became more and more "settled", these warriors were set to guard the citizens against any hostile beasts as well as providing survival training to the citizens. As the Colosseum fell into disuse during the reign of Sylmare Suite, through significant advancements in magical understanding, she was able to begin the enchantments that make this arena what it is today. While used for training to this day, the Nexus Arena is most often used for gladiatorial and ceremonial fights throughout the year. What is truly astonishing is that the arena has no need to keep beasts or creatures for these fights, as the caging of beasts for the sole purpose of killing them in sport was prohibited by Sylmare. Thanks to the diligent studies of Sylmare and his council, the arena operates magically. When needed, the Suite Ruler and/ or additional mages will summon creatures using suitable components and a permanent summoning circle etched into the east side of the arena. As the circle is activated, your fighters may notice a brief flash and dull but lasting glow from the runic inscriptions along the walls. The runes are activated as a safety barrier, to keep patrons of the fight safe from any damage as well as keeping the summoned monstrosity inside of the arena."

Architecture

tba "This colosseum is unique in its construction, having nearly 15 ft tall walls lined with seating all the way around. You will notice (2) statues embedded in the Southern and Northern ends of the colosseum. In the north, you'll find Alinar, the first Suite Brother of Azmar directly under the skylight Suite seating area, where the current ruler can watch over the battle as he watched over the budding city. To the south, you'll notice a warrior statue commemorating the planner and driving force behind this arena, known only as Calin, the Bold. Six pillars rise from the middle, each dawning an enchanted brazier to be lit during night training and the occasional festival fights. Dirt and sand cover most of the rocky bottom of the colosseum, though the middle tends to be cleared of the sand during the fights. The keen (or magical) eye may note that the walls have a runic inscription running along the entire length of both the bottom and top of the wall."
